Alcohol De~lovments; For the first time in recent memory, the City Police Department
conducted an alcohol deployment in late July of 13 different restaurants and stores to see if
employees would sell alcohol to minors. They were unable to make a buy! The City Police
Department has conducted many alcohol deployments in recent years and as much as 30% to
50% have sold alcohol to minors. While this will certainly not be the last time in Atlantic Beach
that alcohol is be sold to a minor, it points to a much greater awazeness of the need to check IDs
on the part of business owners.
Selva Preserve Lawsuit; We have received notice that the lawsuit filed by Maria Mazk against
the City of Atlantic Beach concerning the rezoning of the Selva Preserve Development has now
been dropped. Since the lawsuit was originally filed, the developers (Selva Preserve LLC) filed
to become a party to the suit. To date, the city's legal costs have been minimal.
