Present: Chair Laurie Melancon, Lori Gaglione, Jolyn Johnson, John Longbottom, Ingrid McCawley, Lynne Knecht Roskein. Sta, f~`.~ Timmy Johnson, Liaison, and Karen Kempf (recording). Visitor.• Alicia Paley 1. Call to order -Chair Melancon called the meeting to order at 7:05. A quorum of members was present and meeting notice was made. 2. The meeting minutes from May 27, 2008 were reviewed by the committee. Ingrid moved to accept, John seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 3. Ongoing Business a. Events and Updates i. Arts in the Park Expenses- Jolyn submitted an expense and income report from the May 3 event. The expenses were higher than budgeted, but the income was greater than last year's event. Expenses were $1748.14 if income is taken into account. Jolyn also reviewed the comments from the artists and volunteers who participated in the event_ In general, the responses were very favorable with artists indicating that they wished to participate again next year. (Both attachments are available to the public for review.) ii. Songwriters' Concert & Acoustic Nights -John reported to the committee that the CD "Caught in the Act,"alive recording at Adele Grage, is now released. He will take copies to the City Commission at the upcoming meeting. He then reported on the previous concerts. Songwriters' had 60 in the audience with 19 performers. Acoustic Night was rained out and was held inside, 69 people attended and 25 played. iii. Teen Council is on summer vacation and the representatives will come to the September meeting. iv. Vohmteer Information 8c Event -Tim asked committee members to return the volunteer information for themselves and for other volunteer that they have worked with throughout the year. The volunteer event is still planned for August 29, Friday at Adele Grage. Karen was asked to email the MS Word volunteer form to all the committee members, including Alicia Paley. 4. New business a. City Marquee -Lynne reported that, at the last city commission meeting, Commissioner Paul Parson's asked why events, such as Arts in the Park, are not on the City Marquee. Paul was asked by the Mayor to bring a list of events that he thought should be included on the marquee. Lynne volunteered to speak at the next city commission meeting regarding recreation and cultural events that should be included for community information and participation. b. Reappointments -Karen reported the two committee members were reappointed at the last commission meeting: Ingrid Mc Cawley and Jolyn Johnson. c. Arts in the Park donation - Jolyn showed the panoramic canvas photograph of the Arts in the Park that was donated to her by one of the artists. She asked if the committee would frame/stretch the canvas for an estimated $200, so that it could be put on display at City Hall, Adele Grage and other locations in the future. Ingrid moved that the committee approve the $200 expense for framing and that committee funds be used for the project; John seconded the motion; and the committee unanimously agreed. Tim will take the canvas for flaming and bring to next meeting. 5. Other Agenda Items a. Meeting out - Jolyn suggested to the committee that they consider having the next meeting at an offsite location. After discussion, it was agreed that the next meeting would be held at Mesa Luna. Tim will follow-up with details and information. The next CARAC meeting date is July 22°~ at 7 pm at Mesa Luna. 6. Adjounament a.
