SUBJECT: Follow-up eport
Complaint from Sheri Lawhun of 190 Seminole Road about placing rocks in the right of
way; At the last city commission meeting, Sheri Lawhun addressed the Commission
complaining that she was being required to remove the rocks that she had placed in the City right
of way. She had received a letter on September 1 1, 2008 from the Public Works Director for
violation of Section 19-7(d) which states "no parking apron shall be allowed in the city's rights
of way along azterial (through) streets listed in City Code Section 21-17(h)". Seminole Road is
one of the arterial streets listed in the Code. Ms. Lawhun had placed rocks across all of the right
of way in front of her house and a caz had been regulazly pazked in the right of way over a six
month period.
A meeting was held with Ms. Lawhun in which she committed to installing and maintaining a
substantial amount of landscaping so that the right of way in front of her property could not be
used for parking. This is to be completed by the end of October. It is stars opinion that this
will satisfy the City's prohibition on creation of pazking places in the city's right of way along
arterial streets.
