BACKGROUND: The Public Utility Department at times requires the services of
certified welders and metal fabricators. Bids were advertised and several vendors
contacted the City with questions. Only one bid was received on August 24, 2005. This
bidder met all requirements. Bid award recommendation was based on an 8-hour service
day:

These costs represent a 29% increase over the existing welding contract with Ace
Fabrications, LLC.
BUDGET: Funds for Welding Troubleshooting and Repair were budgeted in the
Water and Sewer Treatment and Sewer Collection funds in the amount of $35,000 under
account nos. 400-5502-533-3400, 410-5508-535-3400, and 410-5506-535-3400.
RECOMMENDATION: Awazd the annual contract for Welding Troubleshooting and
Repair to Ace Fabrications, LLC at the prices submitted in Bid No. 0809-01.
