41) MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ELECTION MEETING OF ATLANTIC BEACH CITY
COMMISSION HELD IN THE ADELE GRAGE COMMUNITY CENTER, 716 OCEAN
BOULEVARD, ATLANTIC BEACH, ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1999
Before the City Commission meeting, representatives of the office of the Duval County
Supervisor of Elections, witnessed by Commissioners, candidates and their guests and city staff,
counted and verified the count of the votes cast.
The Commission Meeting was called to order at 9:05 PM by Mayor Shaughnessy. Present, in
addition to the Mayor were Commissioners Borno, Beaver, Meserve, and Mitchelson.
Also present were City Attorney Jensen, City Manager James Hanson and City Clerk Maureen
King.
1.Canvass the results of the municipal election and adopt Resolution No. 99-31
declaring the results thereof.
Mayor Shaughnessy announced the number of ballots cast for each candidate and presented in
full, in writing, Resolution No. 99-31, A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF
THE PRIMARY ELECTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, HELD ON
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1999, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR-
COMMISSIONER AND TWO COMMISSIONERS.
The resolution was unanimously approved.
Certification of the official results of said election is attached hereto and is as follows:
Mayor/Commissioner, Seat 1 John Meserve Elected (2 years)
Commissioner Seat 2 Dezmond Waters Elected (4 years)
Commissioner Seat 3 Louis M. Borno Elected (4 years)
Dezmond Waters and Louis M. Borno, candidates for Seats 2 and 3, respectively, were
unopposed and were, therefore, automatically elected.)
There being no further business to come before the City Commission, the Mayor declared the
meeting adjourned at 9:07 PM..
