Also present were City Manager Fellows, City Clerk King, Committee Member Kerber and George Bull, Sr. Mayor Gulliford called the meeting to order and confirmed that each Commissioner had received a copy of a list of suggested questions which covered a variety of subjects such as past experiences, relationships with elected officials, employees and department heads and the press. It was decided the Mayor would ask each applicant the listed questions, then give Commissioners an opportunity to ask additional questions, and then allow each applicant to ask questions of the Commission. The applicants interviewed were: Kim Leinbach of Green Cove Springs at 11:00 AM, and Steven Aynes from Kettering, Ohio, at Noon After the interviews the Mayor said that tentative interviews had been scheduled for the following week, but since Mr. Fellows' retirement date was very close he felt the Commission needed to move quickly. He said he had received very positive comments about Mr. Leinbach and had been cautioned about hiring someone outside the State of Florida because of the lack of knowledge of the Florida Statutes such an applicant would have. Commissioner Edwards said he had spoken with three people at a recent meeting of the Northeast Florida League of Cities and all three had spoken very highly of Mr. Leinbach. Commissioner Tucker said she also had received excellent comments. In order that the Commission would be in a position to take official action following the interviews on Wednesday evening, the Mayor declared this meeting would be a special called meeting. There being no further discussion, the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned. ATTEST: Maureen King, City Clerk
