City of Atlantic Beach Tree Conservation Board
Regular Meeting Minutes
July 9, 2008
A regular meeting of the City of Atlantic Beach Tree Conservation Board was
convened at 7:04 pm on Wednesday July 9, 2008 at the Adele Grage Cultural
Center, located at 716 Ocean Boulevard in Atlantic Beach. In attendance were
Board members Brea Pau4 Carole Varney, Chair Maureen Shaughnessy, and
Principal Planner/Staff Liaison Erika Hall. Board members Stephanie Catania
was excused from the meeting and Jim McCue was absent from the meeting. The
position of Recording Secretary was vacant.
1. CALL TO ORDER
• Chair Maureen Shaughnessy called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm.
2. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS
• There were no visitors in attendance.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chair Shaughnessy called for a motion to approve the minutes from the June 11t
regular meeting.
MOTION: Brea Paul moved to adopt the minutes of the June 11, 2008 regular meeting,
as written.
SECOND: Carole Varney seconded the motion.
DISCUSSION:There was no further discussion.
VOTE: Unanimous, 3-0

Tree Removal:application review
MOTION: Carole Varney moved that the board approve the application for tree
removal for the property located at 371-373 4th Street, to include removal of one (1) 30"
oak, with mitigation assessed for 15" hardwoods, to be accomplished by the
preservation of an existing 25"walnut tree in the rear yard (north end) of the property.
SECOND: Brea Paul seconded the motion.
DISCUSSION: There was no further discussion.
VOTE: Unanimous, 3-0.

Tree Removal:application review
MOTION: Finding that the application submitted was incomplete and inadequate,
Carole Varney moved that the board defer review until a revised application is received.
Specifically, required Exhibit D or G must be a scaled drawing, prepared according to
the application instructions (item 5.a), showing the location of existing and proposed
structures, utilities, easements, setbacks; interior and exterior zones; species, location
and size of tree(s) proposed for removal. Additionally, Exhibit H, approval by the
Oceanwalk HOA/Architectural Review Committee is required.
SECOND: Brea Paul seconded the motion.
DISCUSSION: There was no further discussion.
VOTE: Unanimous, 3-0.

2102 Beach Avenue

Tree Removal:application review
MOTION: Carole Varney moved that the board approve the application for tree
removal for the property located at 2102-2104 Beach Avenue, to include the removal of
123" from the interior [1-3', 3-4': 4-5". 7-6", 2-7', 1-8'; and 1-9", 1-15"oak ] and 167"
from the exterior [1-8"cherry; 1-4"and. 1-7"holly; 2-3'; 4-4'; 7-5'; 7-6'; 5-7" and 4-8"
oak], for a total of 290". Of these trees, 78" are regulated and require mitigation at the
rate of 1:2, or 39" of hardwoods. The applicant has indicated mitigation will be
accomplished by the preservation of the following trees on-site: in the exterior zone, 2-
6", 2-7" and 1-8"oak; in the interior zone, in the tree well, 1-3",4-4", 3-5", 8-6", 1-7", 1-
9" and 1-10"oak;for a total of 143"preserved.
SECOND: Brea Paul seconded the motion.
