SUBJECT: City Manager's Report
Joint Meeting with City of Neptune Beach; a joint meeting with the Mayor and Council of the
City of Neptune Beach has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 24~' at 6:OOpm at the Adele
Grage Cultural Center. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the proposed art work to
be located in the roundabout in Town Center.
Training for Boards and Committees; a training session for city board and committee
members has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 25~' at 6:00 pm at the City Commission
Chambers. The meeting will provide an opportunity to learn how to properly run meetings using
parliamentary procedures and to make fair and balanced decisions. Isabelle Lopez, an attorney
with Lewis, Longman and Walker P.A., will be the trainer for this session. She has a
certification from the Florida Bar as an expert in city, county and local government law, is a
certified mediator, and specializes in zoning, comprehensive planning, land development, code
regulations, platting, public hearings, annexation, interlocal agreements, local ordinances and
related issues. City board and committee members have been invited and encouraged to attend.
City staff members who serve as liaisons to these boards and committees will also attend. This
session will be open to the public.
Position Vacancies; one signal of our country's serious economic issues, and their impact
locally, has been a record number of applications for city openings recently. While there have
not been a lot of positions open, those that have been advertised have gotten a large response.
The greatest of these was the administrative assistant position in the Police Department which
received 493 applications.
