AGENDA ITEM: Award Tennis Courts at Donner Park Project (CDBG)

BACKGROUND: Bid number 0809-07 for construction of two tennis courts at
Donner Park, was opened on April 15, 2009. There were five
bidders, with the low bid from Varsity Courts, Inc.. References
checked for Varsity Courts, Inc. were Excellent. Both the Director
of Public Works and the Deputy Director of Public Works were
impressed with the thoroughness and insight brought to the table
by Varsity Courts, Inc. during the pre-bid meeting as well as
conversations with Dennis Brubach (President) leading up to the
bid submittal. Construction includes site preparation, two courts,
fencing and lighting.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Commission award the contract for construction of two
tennis courts to Varsity Courts, Inc. for $91,337.00.
BUDGET: Source of funds is CDBG FY 2009 grant, Account Number 110-
1005-515-6300, budgeted at $100,000.00.
