Item 6AAGENDA ITEM # 6A SEPTEMBER 14, 2009 RESOLUTION NO. 09-13 A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF BEACHES VETERAN SERVICE ORGANIZATION'S "ARMED FORCES COMMUNITY COVENANT" PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Atlantic Beach Commission has a rich history of support for our veterans, including construction of the first beaches park in their honor, "The Atlantic Beach Veteran's Memorial Park"; and WHEREAS, the Commission also supports the many fine veteran service organizations in our community; and WHEREAS, those veteran organizations, led by the America Legion, have agreed to a Community Covenant including the following provisions: • To create and encourage a strong relationship between communities and the military personnel who live and serve in them; and • To educate all men, women and children to the value and strength that comes from having service members, veterans and their families living in the communities; and • To assist community leaders at all levels in developing programs and policies in support of our nation's veterans, military personnel and their families, All values we embrace. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach does hereby support and applaud the efforts by our military veteran organizations and pledge to work with them towards proper recognition and support for all those who serve our country.
