BACKGROUND: At the July 27`~ meeting, the Commission approved the award of a
contract to R.B. Baker Construction, Inc. for construction of the Royal
Palms Drainage Rehabilitation Project (PW0905) in the amount of
$3,180,703 for the base bid and selected additive alternates.
A field change to the plans to use elliptical pipe rather than the round pipe
in the bid plans was required because there would have been insufficient
cover over the round pipe for long term system reliability. Additionally, two
curb inlets that were to be refurbished were found to be in such poor
condition that complete replacement was the preferred option. Change
Order 1 is attached documenting an additional cost of $16,298.08 and
requests reimbursement via this change order.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 1 to the R.B.
Baker Construction contract. The total contract price with this change
order will be $3,214,121.54, including contingency.
BUDGET: This project is funded from the Stormwater Fund, Account No.
470-0000-538-6300 -with $257,067 encumbered as contingency funds in
the Royal Palms Drainage Rehabilitation Project (PW0905) budget.
