Due to this, there is no general funding available to provide needed technological upgrades for the police department. Much of our equipment needs replacing and/or is obsolete. The benefits of the upgrades we are requesting would greatly enhance the service we provide to the citizens of this city. Project Summary The City of Atlantic Beach is requesting $45,000 to purchase technology upgrades which include; laptop computers, in-car video cameras and recorders, Tasers, a new computer file server for police records, and other items which are needed to enhance the daily operations of the police personnel. Many of our current items have surpassed their usable lifespan and/or are no longer repairable, per the manufacturer. In a day and age where technology is vastly improving and the capabilities are ever growing, it is imperative for the police department to upgrade their current items to enhance the proficiency of our work product and service to the citizens of our city.
