10November2009CEBminutesCITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MINUTES 7:00 P.M., November 10, 2009 PRESENT: Vice Chairman Ron Pendleton Juliette Hagist Ray Martin Richard Ouellette Barbara Weiss Nicholas Dodaro EXCUSED: Chairman Carl Russell UNEXCUSED: Veda Bernstein AND: Michael Griffin, Building Official Susan Gorman, Secretary Suzanne Greene, Prosecuting Attorney Vice Chairman Ron Pendleton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag by all present. Secretary Susan Gorman read the roll and determined that there was a quonim. 1. Approval of Minutes: Following a brief review, the Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the Code Enforcement Board meeting of August 11, 2009. 2. No visitors noted. Vice Chair Pendleton asked all Respondents and witnesses to step forward to be sworn in. 3. OLD BUSINESS: a. Case # 911-08: Building Official Michael Griffin gave a report on his inspection of the property at 1770 Mayport Road and advised the Board that Ms. Pourin Ashorian is in full compliance. Vice Chairman Pendleton asked the Board for a motion to close Case # 911- 08. Ray Martin offered a motion, Juliette Hagist seconded and the motion carried unanimously. b. Case # 414-08: The Building Official presented his report regarding the property at 37 West 8`" Street and he advised the Board that Mr. Randolf Wilson is in full compliance. November 10, 2009 Page 2. Ray Martin motioned to close Case #414-08, Juliette Hagist seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 4. NEW BUSINESS: a. Case #104309: The Respondent Thomas Streit appeared before the Board. Michael Griffin presented the evidence of Code violations to the Board and recommended that Mr. Streit be found guilty as a first time offender. Mr. Streit's tenant, Daniel E. Wong gave testimony to the Board regarding the conditions of the property located at 94 Stanley Rd., # 2. The Respondent addressed the Board and explained his efforts to correct the violations cited by Code Enforcement. Board Members asked questions of the Respondent and discussion ensued. Vice Chairman Pendleton asked for a motion. Ray Martin motioned that Mr. Streit be found guilty and fined as a first time offender unless full compliance is met on or before November 27, 2009. Richard Ouellette seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 4. MISCELLANIOUS BUSINESS: Building Official Michael Griffin introduced the new Code Enforcement Officer Eddie Lopez to the Code Enforcement Board. A regular meeting of the Code Enforcement Board is scheduled for January 12, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the Commission Chamber. 5.
