Drainage Rehabilitation Project (PW0905)

BACKGROUND: At the July 27~' meeting, the Commission approved the award of a
contract to R.B. Baker Construction, Inc. for construction of the Royal
Palms Drainage Rehabilitation Project (PW0905) in the amount of
$3,180,703 for the base bid and selected additive alternates.
Change Order No. 4, a field change to the plans to use elliptical pipe
rather than the round pipe in the bid plans was required because there
would have been insufficient cover over the round pipe for long term
system reliability. Also, changes to the required number of new structures
versus connecting to deteriorating existing structures became a
necessity. Net change in contract price $9,757.19.
• Change Order No. 5 is for pump trucks for force main outage, deadman
for AC water main restraint, two 6" water main case A's, two 8" water main
case B's and adjustments for two fire hydrants as a result of field
discoveries. Net change in contract price $18,823.28.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 4 & Change
Order No. 5 to the R.B. Baker Construction contract.
BUDGET: This project is funded from the Stormwater Fund, Account No.
470-0000-538- Royat Palms Drainage Rehabilitation Project (PW0905)
budget.
