Ingrid moved to accept the minutes as written; Jolyn seconded the motion, and the minutes were unanimously approved. 3. Ongoing Business a. Events, Updates, Reports i. Songwriters' Concert - no report currently. ii. Sing-Along -Ingrid reported that the Dec. 12 event was postponed due to rain and moved to Sunday, January 20. The event was still well attended (especially children) despite the date change and the cold. All the rentals needed to be extended to the next weekend. The fire truck brought Santa and there was plenty of good cookies and juice. The DJ was good and next year she would like to get a sing-along leader as well. She thanked all the committee members who helped before, during and after the event. iii. Arts in the Park -Marketing -Lynne reported that this year the event would be advertised in newspapers only and not magazines. The event will be advertised in the Time-Union Lifestyle & Calendar. The ads will be larger and run successfully. The Arts in the Park volunteers decided to use new artwork this year to change the "loop' of the poster. The committee discussed if the graphic artist should be compensated for design time, purchase the design, or if she would only receive credit for her work. Jolyn plans to spotlight several of the artists on the website. Other ways to get the word out (One Ocean Resort, hotels, etc.) were mentioned. Lori will decide on new artwork for the poster by March 1. She'll need a mailing list for Atlantic Beach and Neptune for sending post cards. Jeff said that he will have a UNF intern in spring and that s/he can help with Arts in the Park. Jolyn has 37 artists registered to date and has a volunteer to coordinate food vendors this year. iv. Teen Council - no news. v. New Event update -Meade reported that she could not get permission for Atlantic Beach to offer "Pecha Kucha" since Riverside in Jacksonville will be doing this in a theatre that holds 200 people. So, she has renamed and reformatted the event slightly and is calling it "Lagniappe Night." The date has been rolled to February 18th, which is Art Walk night and asked the committee to approve the changes. The refreshments will be popcorn and lemonade in the theater for a trial period. Meade introduced Jessie Datillo who will be helping her with the event. vi. Jeff reported that he's been getting good feedback on starting a Farmer's Market in Atlantic Beach on Wednesdays. He plans to talk to the Jarboe Market about how to start up a market at Bull, Johansen or Russell Parks. Tim will check with the city regarding legal issues of using a park for farmer's market and what would need to be addressed. vii. Tour de Parks -Cris reported to the community that he had met with Karen about this year's event. This year he suggested that we keep it a city event and not move it back as a CARAC event. 4. New Business a. Jolyn asked the committee to reimburse her for travel to various art shows through the south east to recruit artists for Arts in the Park The committee discussed if and how this might be done. Would other committee members be reimbursed for travel as well? Is the money in the budget? Tim asked that this item be tabled until he can get further information from the city whether this would be possible for volunteers. 5. Other Agenda Items/Announcements a.
