AGENDA ITEM: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE OPERATING BUDGET
FOR THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA FOR
FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2009 AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 2010.

BACKGROUND: Please reference the staff report on Local Mitigation Strategy Grant
Acceptance for the Salt Air Gravity Sewer Rehabilitation Project also
included in the agenda for this meeting.
BUDGET: The Public Utility budget included $100,000 for rehabilitation of sewer
lines. The grant will supplement this budget with an additional $282,000
and the Public Utilities will redirect funds from the Mimosa Cove Lift
Station project in the amount of $18,000, bringing the total amount of the
project budget to $400,000.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA FOR FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2009 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2010.
WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Atlantic Beach requires that the City
Commission approve all budgetary increases and transfers at the fund level, and
WHEREAS, the nature of budgetary systems and those day-to-day decisions affecting such
budgetary systems require adjustments from time-to-time, and
WHEREAS, the City approved acceptance of a Local Mitigation Strategy Grant for the Salt
Air Gravity Sewer Rehabilitation Project in the amount of $282,000, and
WHEREAS, the 2010 adopted budget did not include grant proceeds as a funding source for
this project, and
WHEREAS, the City will also need to match the grant with $118,000; $100,000 of which
was budgeted for the project. The additional $18,000 needed to complete the match will come from
other projects within the existing budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ON
BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, that;
1. The Fiscal Year 2009/2010 Budget be amended as follows:
PUBLIC UTILITY SEWER FUND
Revenues:
Grant Proceeds $282,000
Expenses:
Distribution and Collection -Capital Improvements $282,000
Fund Balance: $0
2. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
