AGENDA ITEM: Storm Water Jetting, Cleaning & Televising for the Public Works

BACKGROUND: Bids were opened April 14, 2010 for Jetting, Cleaning & Televising storm
water lines for the Public Works Department. There were six bidders: Altair
Environmental Group, Engineered Lining Systems, Florida Pipe Tech, Metro Rooter, Vac
and Jet Services, LLC and W.W. Engineering Inc.
Maintenance cleaning of storm sewer piping is a required activity under
the City's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System (NPDES) permit. This bid provides the option for two (2) one year
renewals pending mutual agreement between the City and the Contractor.
To preclude a low price for one pipe size slanting the overall cost, the bid stated it
would be awarded based on the total cost for a generic project (specifics not included in
bid advertisement) and positive references. The generic project used for evaluation was
jetting, cleaning & televising 100 LF of 15" pipe, 80 LF of 24" pipe, 300 LF of 36" pipe &
120 LF of 48" pipe.

Televising for the Public Works Department to W.W. Engineering, Inc.
