Building Department Revenues and Expenses• A request was made by a City Commissioner at the
October 26, 2009 commission meeting for a report "in six months" of the revenues and expenses of the
City's Building Department. This followed the approval of an ordinance increasing some of the building
fees that was adopted earlier that night. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, the City has collected
$126,524 in building permit fees and spent $135,063. While the revenues do not quite cover the expense
for the first six months of the fiscal year, the number of building permits issued has recently increased and
it is our estimate that we will be on target for both revenues and expenses by the end of the fiscal year.
