The information that 1 am sending you will illustrate typical cross sections of retaining walls using Anchor products, Comprised within these cross sections will be a chart explaining the grid recommendations for various wall heights and soil conditions. The site plan for the residence at 1633 Ocean Avenue shows a wall that is 3' high, which is retaining natural soil at a fairly level slope behind the wall. Assuming that this site has silty sand as native soil and applying the previously mentioned criteria,Anchor can recommend Design Table 7 as a guideline for grid placement. In this case,there would be no grid required according to the chart. For walls that are using the Anchor Diamond or Highland products,anchor suggests that they can be built up to 4' tall without grid or engineering unless extreme conditions such as water,high slopes or surcharges are prevalent. The Anchor Diamond and Anchor Highland products would use the same Design Tables for estimating grid lengths and layers. The typical cross section provided is for guideline purposes only and not for construction. Walls that require engineering would have to be professionally engineered and stamped for approval.
