Re: Proposed Accessory Structure at 825 Sherry Drive
Dear Mr. Byrnes:
I write in reply to your questions regarding allowable size of certain Accessory Structures within
the residential Zoning Districts. You have expressed your desire to construct a detached garage
and storage building on your lot at 825 Sherry Drive. As you know, the City is currently
considering amendments to the zoning regulations, and there are proposed changes that may
have minor implication to a detached structure such as you have proposed. The 600 square feet
limitation is not amended, although it is clarified in the proposed regulations. Within the current
regulations, the definition of Accessory buildings limits such structures to 600 square feet of
area. This is interpreted to mean 600 square feet of site area or "building footprint" since the
term Floor area is not used, but this is clarified in the proposed regulations to establish that the
600 square feet refers to Lot Area. Please feel free to call me at 247 -5817 with any questions.
