After review of your application for a Sign Permit, the amount of signage requested appears to exceed
that allowed by Chapter 17 of the City of Atlantic Beach Municipal Code. Your application requests
approval of 159.6 square feet of Flat Signs to be installed on three side of the building. Section 17 -2 (b)
(1) limits Flat Signs to one (1) square foot of linear frontage of the building. In other words, if the front
of your building is 60 feet in length, 60 square feet of Flat Signs is the maximum amount of total sign
area allowed. The amount of signage permitted is not based up a total of each building side, but rather
the frontage of your building.
The regulations do not restrict where such Flat Signs are placed, but the cumulative total of all Flat
Signs cannot exceed (1) square foot of linear frontage of the building. Also, please bear in mind that all
existing non - conforming signs must be removed, and issuance of a Sign Permit shall be conditioned
