Present were Chairperson Mae Jones, Richard Bell, Camille Hunter,Barbara Mears, Judith Jacobson, Building Official Don Ford and Susan Dunham. 1. Call to Order Chairperson Jones called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. 2. Recoanition of Visitors None. 3. Aimroval of Minutes of Meeting of May 21, 2001 A motion was made by Board Member Jacobson, seconded by Board Member Mears and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of the Tree Conservation Board Meeting of May 21, 2001. 4.A. Old Business/Tree Removal ADDlications 1)The West 110' of Lot 71A,N. Atlantic Beach, Unit#3-R-C-B-S: Mr. Anthony Collazo introduced himself He requested that the Board consider the 17"multi-trunk laurel oak in the lower left hand comer diseased. The Board members agreed that this survey was a good survey and the trees were well marked on the lot. In response to a question from Board Member Hunter, Mr. Collazo responded that the elevation three-quarters of the way to the back of the lot would not be changed. Board Member Bell stated that he examined the diseased tree and it was partially rotten but trees in this condition can survive. The Board made corrections to the tree survey and discussed the tree located in the City right-of-way. A motion was made by Board Member Jacobson, seconded by Board Member Bell and unanimously carried to approve the application and to direct Building Official Ford to issue a permit for the removal of 117" of oak to be mitigated with 32" of newly planted oak plus 28.25" of oak to be preserved on site. A motion was made by Board Member Hunter, seconded by Board Member Bell and unanimously carried to recommend to the Public Works Department that the 25" Laurel Oak in the public right- of-way in front of this property be removed and mitigated with 12.511 of oak to be planted in the public right-of-way in front of this property, if possible, and if not a hazard to the power lines and if in keeping with the guidelines of the Tree Ordinance. If not, then we ask that the Public Works Department use their best judgment to find an appropriate area in a public place to plant these trees. 5.A. New Business/Tree Removal Amlications: None. 6. Reports and Announcements A. Progress Report on Historical Tree Preservation Ordinance: Building Official Ford advised that he has begun to work on the Historical Tree Preservation Ordinance and a slideshow presentation. The Board determined that the report to the Commission should be very brief. Discussion was held with regard to preserving the historical colonnades, restoring trees and including privately owned trees in the ordinance.
