BACKGROUND: Bids for street sweeping /vacuuming for the Public Works Department were
opened on Sept. 15, 2010. The city received two bids: USA Services, our current sweeping
contractor, and Central Sweeping Service whose bid package was incomplete.
Street sweeping of Atlantic Blvd & Mayport Road is a part of our maintenance
contract with FDOT (monthly). Bimonthly sweeping of City streets is a requirement of our
NPDES (MS4) permit.

The bid price from USA Services is a $360 annual savings from the previous contract.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the contract for Street sweeping of FDOT Roads,
City Streets, Public Works Yard and City Hall to USA Services for a total of
$25,800.00 a year starting October 1, 2010.
BUDGET: Stormwater account number 470- 0000 - 538 -3400 (Other Contractual
Services) includes $26,500.00 in the current year for street sweeping.
