T ak y UILDI �' NG CLERK CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH /vcb TREE CONSERVATION BOARD Minutes of meeting of June 2 , 1997 The Board held its regular meeting on Monday, June 2 , in the Conference Room of City Hall . Present were: Hope Van Nortwick, Chairperson Mae Jones Rick Beaver Rick Bell Staff : Carl Walker, Board Coordinator Chairperson Hope Van Nortwick called the meeting to order at 7 : 30 PM. The only application for consideration was for pro- perty described as Lot # 6 , Block # 149 , Section H. Robert Isaac, the owner/developer, introduced himself to the Board. The Board members complimented the applicant on the proper marking of the trees, on site, as well as the preparation of the tree survey. Mr. Issac verified the DBH size of 2 oaks in the north rear of the lot . He also explained that the trees at the front require removal due to the 2 . 8 'elevation change . Discussion followed between the Board and the applicant on saving 2-6" DBH oaks in the front of the lot , and a 8" DBH oak at the corner. By preserving these trees, the mitigation require- ments will be considerably reduced. Also, a 4" DBH oak on the north side of the lot could be saved as mitigation. Mr. Isaac was agreeable to altering the plans in order to save the trees noted above and the changes were so marked on the original survey. Hope Van Nortwick explained the process should it became necessary to remove any of these trees as a result of construction. Rick Beaver moved to accept the application, with adjustments that the 4" DBH oak on the north side of the lot, the 2 - 6" DBH oaks at the front of the lot, and the 8" DBH oak at the front corner, will not be removed, and that one 4" DBH oak be replanted, at a location of the owners ' discretion, on site. Rick Bell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Mae Jones announced that she and Herschel Shepard will meet with the Beaches Historical Society on Thursday, June 5 . She will report the results at the next regular meeting. " TREE CONSERVATION BOARD Minutes of meeting of June 2 , 1997 The Board held its regular meeting on Monday, June 2 , in the Conference Room of City Hall. Present were: Hope Van Nortwick, Chairperson Mae Jones Rick Beaver Rick Bell Staff: Carl Walker, Board Coordinator Chairperson Hope Van Nortwick called the meeting to order at 7: 30 PM. The only application for consideration was for pro- perty described as Lot # 6 , Block # 149, Section H. Robert Isaac, the owner/developer, introduced himself to the Board. The Board members complimented the applicant on the proper marking of the trees, on site, as well as the preparation of the tree survey. Mr. Issac verified the DBH size of 2 oaks in the north rear of the lot. He also explained that the trees at the front require removal due to the 2 .8 'elevation change. Discussion followed between the Board and the applicant on saving 2-6" DBH oaks in the front of the lot, and a 8" DBH oak at the corner. By preserving these trees, the mitigation require- ments will be considerably reduced. Also, a 4" DBH oak on the north side of the lot could be saved as mitigation. Mr. Isaac was agreeable to altering the plans in order to save the trees noted above and the changes were so marked on the original survey. Hope Van Nortwick explained the process should it became necessary to remove any of these trees as a result of construction. Rick Beaver moved to accept the application, with adjustments that the 4" DBH oak on the north side of the lot, the 2 - 6" DBH oaks at the front of the lot, and the 8" DBH oak at the front corner, will not be removed, and that one 4" DBH oak be replanted, at a location of the owners' discretion, on site. Rick Bell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Mae Jones announced that she and Herschel Shepard will meet with the Beaches Historical Society on Thursday, June 5 . She will report the results at the next regular meeting.
