$500 . 00 per day for a repeat violation.

Project Summary: Architectural Testing, Inc. (ATI) was contracted by Simonton Windows to
witness performance tests on a Series/Model 07-07, poly vinyl chloride (PVC) fixed window at
their facility located in Pennsboro, West Virginia. The sample tested successfully met the
performance requirements for an F-R55 74 x 60 rating. Test specimen description and results are-
reported herein.
Test Specification: The test specimen was evaluated in accordance with AAibIA/NWWDA
101/l.S.2-97, Voluntary Specifications for Aluminum, Vinyl (PVC) and Wood Windows and
Glass Doors.

Overall Size: 6'2" wide by 5'0"high
Daylight Opening Size: 58-1/4" wide by 4' 6-1/4" high
Glazing Details: The unit was interior dry glazed using 3/4" thick sealed insulating glass
fabricated with two 3/16" annealed sheets separated by a 3/8" desiccated foam spacer. The
glass was set against an EPDM gasket and secured using snap-in rigid vinyl/dual durometer
glazing beads.
Frame Construction: The PVI; frame was assenwiCu ubi11e, u"uYcred and rvC1%1A0d

Installation: The unit was installed into a 2" x 10" wood buck constructed from
Spruce-Pine-Fir construction lumber and secured through the jambs using four#8 x 2-1/2"
long screws, one at the top and bottom of each jamb. The unit was sealed to the buck at the
exterior and interior perimeter with a silicone caulking,with the exception of an approximate
4" long void at each interior sill comer. -

Series/Model 07-07, poly vinyl chloride (PVC) center hinged out-swing glass door (XO) at their
facility in Pennsboro, West Virginia. The sample tested successfully met the performance
requirements for an HGD-R50 72 x 80 rating. Test specimen description and results are reported
herein.
Test Specification: The test specimen was evaluated in accordance with AAMA/NWWDA
101/I.S.2-97, Voluntary Specifications for Aluminum, Vinyl(PVC) and Wood Windows and Glass
Doors.

Finish: White vinyl.
Glazing Details: The operable and fixed panels were glazed with 7/8" thick insulating glass
fabricated from two lites of DS (0.125") thick, tempered glass with a steel spacer system.
The glass was set from the interior against 3/8" wide by 1/16" thick double-sided adhesive
glazing tape and secured with snap-fit dual durometer vinyl glazing beads.

Frame Construction: The PVC frame was of mitered and welded corner construction. An
extruded aluminum, snap-on, sloped sill adapter was applied and sealed to the sill. A PVC
astragal was coped and fastened to the head and sill with three#10 x 3" long screws per end.
A snap-on rigid PVC sill riser was applied and sealed to the exterior sill. A snap-in PVC
screen track was located at the head and jambs. The fixed panel was secured to the head, sill
and jamb through the panel profile,using#10 x 3" long screws spaced approximately 9" o.c.,
and to the astragal using#8 x 2-1/2" long screws spaced approximately 9" o.c. A rigid PVC
drip cap was applied to the head at the exterior.
Panel Construction: The PVC panels were of mitered and welded corner construction.
A rigid PVC panel stop was located at the perimeter of the fixed panel.

Reinforcement: The astragal was reinforced at the hinge mount location with an H-shaped
extruded aluminum member measuring 0.995" x 0.780" x 0.060". The active panel hinge
stile contained two U-shaped extruded aluminum reinforcements at the hinge mount
location,each measuring 0.310"x 0.310" x 0.060".
Installation: The door was installed into a 2" x 10" wood buck constructed of
Spruce-Pine-Fir#2 construction lumber. The unit was secured through the head and jambs
using 2-1/2" long screws, four evenly spaced at each member. The unit was sealed with a
silicone caulking at the interior and exterior perimeter, with the exception of a 4" void at
each interior sill corner. The sill was set in four evenly spaced pads of silicone caulking.
