Adjournment MINUTES Board Member Review Committee Meeting October 14, 2010 Call to order The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm. Those in attendance were City Manager Jim Hanson, Member Glen Fisher, Member Jim Smith, Recreation Director Timmy Johnson, and Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee Chair Lori Gaglione, Recording Secretary Nancy Bailey. Absent: Mayor Pro Tem John Fletcher (Chairman). City Manager Jim Hanson was selected as acting Chairman, due to Chairman John Fletcher's absence. 1. Approval of the minutes of the BMRC meeting of September 9, 2010. Motion: Approve minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting of September 9, 2010. Moved by Smith, seconded by Fisher Motion carried unanimously 2. Interview candidates (listed below) that are interested in serving on the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee and make a recommendation (one vacancy). New candidates: A. Nelly Lyle B. Linda Ingram C. Wanda Martin D. Hollie McMillan The Committee interviewed the candidates separately. The purpose of the interview and an overview of the duties and responsibilities of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee, along with examples of the various programs, were explained to each. Each applicant explained her personal accomplishments, goals and interests in the community. The Committee offered the applicants the opportunity to ask questions and the Committee responded to those questions. After the interviews were completed, the Committee discussed each candidate and made the following recommendations to fill the vacant position. Motion: Recommend appointing Hollie McMillan to serve as a new member on the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee, effective immediately, with her term ending July 8, 2012 Moved by Fisher, seconded by Smith Motion carried unanimously Mr. Hanson stated this appointment will be on the October 25th Commission Agenda for approval by the Commission. Since everyone believed all of the candidates were strong, it was suggested by the Board Member Review Committee that the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee invite the candidates not selected to help out with their events. 3. Other Business A. Set agenda for next meeting The next meeting will be held on November 10, 2010 at 5:00 pm to address membership for the Community Development Board.
