Myemploymentat FloridaCommunityCollege(15years) providedopportunitiesto workwithdiverse populations and handle a variety of problem-solvingsituations. As an administrator -first, as Coordinator of FCCJ's Weekend College, then the Womens' Center-I learned to listen carefully, weigh alternatives and interpret my decisions diplomatically. As instructor in a program for displaced homemakers, I learned to work one-on-one with people of widely varying economic, educational and cultural levels. As a researcher/writer at Jacksonville CommunityCouncil (2 years), I learned the value of communitycommitment in solving problems proactively and the importance of interpreting committee recommendations clearly and precisely. I have served on a number of Boards of Directors, includingThe League of Women Voters (county president) and Pablo Towers Retirement Residence. Please provide a brief explanation of your interest or any special qualifications you have in this field and your reasons for wishing to be appointed to this board/committee. , (" Had I been sensitive to early clues, I would, correctly, have chosen a career in landscaping! My earliest memories are of plants: from the age of two, I clearly recall the hydrangea bush by our back steps and the rows of red spider lilies in my aunt's garden. Many years later, totally misdirected in my career, I completed the Master Gardener Program, served two years on the MGtelephone answer line and held plant clinics in area nurseries. As a homeowner in Oceanwalk, I designed the requisite landscape plan for our property. I also am a failed member of the Jacksonville Rose Society; I got tired of spraying! As a 34 year resident of Atlantic Beach, I increasingly appreciate the natural beauty we have -imagine: a beach as well as the natural Florida woodland -and would like to have a part in preserving it. We are so very fortunate. -Donna L. Bussey, City Clerk, 800 Seminole Road, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 I ~uC. ~ /1-(!) '1'-CJS
