Bell Tel. & Tel.- 1st reading MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MONDAY, APRIL 25TH, 1960 AT 8 P.M. Present: Wm. S. Howell Preben Johansen J.B. Claiborne Chas. R. Moore W. Laney Whitehurst, Commissioners and Frank Thompson, City Attorney Adele S . Grage, City Clerk Absent: J.F. Waggoner, Jr. ,City Manager The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr. Howell. Minutes of the meeting of April 11th, 1960 were approved as written upon motion of Mr. Moore, seconded by Mr. Johansen. Mr. Howell recognized visitors present and called for any business from the floor. There was none. The Committee appointed to report on Mr. Geo. B. Christian' s ap- plication for certificate of convenience and necessity to operate taxis in the City, reported that they would like to get more infor— mation as to stands, pick-ups, rates, etc. Mr. Christian was pre- sent and advised that he has 3 cabs ready to start operation now, and they will be metered cabs with direct service. They will have 24 hour service and will charge 35 for 1st 1/3 mile, and 104 for each additional 1/3 mile. The matter was discussed and it was agreed that we need additional cab service, especially direct ser- vice, and it is understood that he will carry necessary liability insurance. Mr. Moore moved that Mr. Christian be granted a certi- ficate of convenience and necessaity to operate a taxicab service in Atlantic Beach, seconded by Mr. Claiborne and carried. A letter was received from the Attorney for the Duval County Board of Public Instruction advising that the Board will include the sewer assessment of $2, 122.40 in their next year 's budget. An invitation was read from the Jacksonville Beach school Patrol to review them in dress rehearsal on Saturday morning, May 7th, 1960 at 10: 30 A.M. A bill was presented for our pro-rata share of the insurance on the Jacksonville Beaches Auxiliary Police, and upon motion of Mr. Moore, seconded by Mr. Johansen it was approved for payment. Minutes 4-25-60, Page #2 Resolution #60-7 covering burning of redeemed bonds and coupons was presented. Mr. Moore moved its adoption, seconded by Dr. Whitehurst and carried. Copy of said Resolution #60-7 is attached to these minutes and made a part thereof. It was agreed that the City Manager call for bids on the lift station and force mains on Mayport Rd. , and also for labor to lay the water mains on Mayport Rd. An Ordinance was presented in writing by Mayor Howell, said Ordinance authorizes the Southern Bell Tel. & Tel. Co. to use the Public Streets of the City for the purpose of erecting, constructing, maintaining and operating telephone and telegraph lines thereon and thereunder for which they will pay the City 1% of gross receipts from rental of telephones in use within the corporate limits of the City, the term of said Ordinance is for 4 years. Mr. Moore moved its adoption by Title only on first reading, seconded by. Mr. Johansen and having been duly considered the Mayor put the question thereon and the vote was Aye: Claiborne, Johansen, Moore, Whitehurst, Howell Nay: None Whereupon the Mayor declared said motion carried and said Ordinance adopted on first reading. May 9th, 1960 was set as date for Public Hearing on said Ordinance. There being no further business the meeting was declared adjourned by the Mayor. /60/ .4(101' 44, Wm. S . Grage, City Cl k RESOLUTION NO. 60-7 WHEREAS, the City has redeemed 6-33% Utility Revenue Bonds in amount of $6,000.00, said bonds bearing maturity date of March 1, 1960, and WHEREAS, the City has redeemed Utility Revenue Bond interest coupons which have become due to date, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA, That The following numbered bonds totaling $6,000.00 in value be burned: Numbers 11 thru 16 and that, The following numbered interest coupons be burned: Coupon 9 from bonds no. 22, 205-209; coupon 10 from bonds no. 1048, 23-191, 202-204, 210-231. The above and foregoing Resolution passed by the City Commission on April 25th, 1960. City Clerk
