MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN
COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY, JULY 23RD, 1957 AT
7:45 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Minchew,
and went into session as a Canvassing Board to receive the re-
port from the Election Officials covering the Special Referendum
Election on the proposed New Charter.
Mr. Howell presented Resolution #57-9 which Resolution covers the
results of the Special Election on the Proposed Charter as pre-
sented by the election officials as roilows:
Number of qualified Voters, according to the

Number of such qualified voters who participated
in said election and who cast ballots in said

Number of Ballots cast FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE
PROPOSED CHARTER, was 6 0 257
Number of Ballots cast AGAINST THE ADOPTION OF
THE PROPOSED CHARTER, was . . 82
and moved its adoption. Said motion was secended by Mr. Wardrep
and being duly considered the President put the question thereon
and the motion was unanimously carried. Whereupon the President
declared said Resolution #57-9 duly adopted. Said Resolution
#57-9 is attached to these minutes and is made a part thereof.
The Council then adjourned into business session.
Upon motion of Mr. Weiss, seconded by Mr. Wardrep approval was
given to pay the election officials 615600 each.
Bills were presented from Tyson and Meek $300. covering semi-
annual audit of Utilities Funds, and Duval Engineering and Con-
tractEng Co. $3,331.18 covering final payment on 1955 Paving
Contract. Upon motion of Mr. Howell, seconded by Mr. Weiss
these bills were approved for payment.
Upon motion of Mr. Howell the meeting adjourned from day to
day at 8 P.M.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED, FOUND,
DECLARED, AND HEREBY CERTIFlhD by the Town Council of the
Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, at a meeting of said
Council duly and regularly held, at which the said official
returns of said election have been duly and regularly
canvassed in accordance with law as follows:
(1) The total number of votes cast in said election
was 339; the total number of votes cast in favor of the
proposed Charter was 257; and the total number of votes
cast against the proposed Charter was $2; and said Charter
was ,therefore, approved and adopted.
(2) The election was in all respects conducted in
accordance with the law and all steps in connection with
and leading up to said election have been duly, regularly
and lawfully taken and had and all provisions of Chapter
No. 57-1126 of the laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1957
have been duly complied with.
(3 ) These returns shall be entered and recorded in
the minutes of this Council; this Resolution, determination,
finding, declaration, and certification be also recorded in
the minutes of this Council.
(4) The results of said election shall be duly certified
to the Secretary of State as required by Section 100.351 Florida
Statues.
( 5) This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.

WHEREAS, The Inspectors and the Clerk of the Special Election
held in Atlantic Beach, Florida, on July 23, 1957 for the
purpose of adoption or rejection of the proposed Charter for
the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, canvassed the votes cast
and did make due returns of the same in words as follows:

proposed harter for he City of Atlantic Beach, Florida pursuant
to the provisiohs of Chapter 57-1126 of the laws of Florida, Special
Acts of 1957, hereby certify that we conducted said election on
said date, and counted the ballots cast for and against the question
