HELD AT THL TOWN HALL ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15th, 1956 AT 1 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President kir. Ainchew.
Mrs. Grage reported the tabulation on the straw ballots covering
sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays in Atlantic Beach as fellows :

Whereupon Mr. Barr presented an Ordinance by Title only to conform to
the county hours and close at midnight Saturday night and remain closed
until 7 A.M. Monday morning. Mayor deid suggested that we not have the
extra hours on holidays, but let our hours conform to the county hours
id all respect as to closing. Mr. Barr suggested that they consider
making the effective date after Labor Day as most of the places had
committed themselves to stock to go through Labor day, and it was just
a thought for their consideration. Mr. Weiss advised that he thought
we should get at it now and make it effective on 3rd passage and be-
coming law either with mayors approval or after the five day period
should he not sign. Whereupon Mr. Uarr moved that an Ordinance
entitled "AN ORDINANCE regulating hours for sale of alcoholic and
intoxicating beverages in the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and
repealing Ordinances No. 164 and 170, and all Ordinances and parts
of Ordinances in conflict herewith" be passed on first reading by Title
Only setting hours to conform to county hours, using wordage "to sell,
offer for sale, serve , give away, dispense or dispose of alcoholic
beverages, intoxicating liquors , wines or beer, or permit same to be
consumed upon his, its or their premises" and to effective immediately
upon iys passage and approval by the Mayor, or its becoming a law
without such approval, which motion was seconded by Mr. Howell. Said
motion having been duly considered the President put the question thereon
and the motion was unanimously carried. Whereupon the President declared
said Oddinance adopted on first reading. Mr. Carr presented the Ordinance
for second reading by Title only, which motion was seconded by Mr. Weiss.
Said motioj being duly considered the President put the question there-
on and the motion was unanimously carried. Whereupon the President
declared said motiom carried and said Ordinance adopted on second reading.
Upon motion of Mr. Carr the meeting adjourned from day to day, with
Tuesday, august 21st, 1956 set as the time f or considering above Ordi-
nance on 3rd and final reading. (//z`
