"Jack" Feather R.S. Thames , Councilmen and J.A. Reid, Mayor Frank Thompson, Town Attorney J.D. Brotchie , Town Manager Adele S. Grage , Town Clerk The meeting was called to order by the Predident, Mr . Minchew. Mr. Birchall of the Engineering firm of Smith & Gillespie , was present to discuss with th( Council some possibilities of get- ting some additional water to tide us over the hot months before the new system would be completed. He suggested that we could string along as we were last summer, but eten more so by restrict- ing the use of the water, etc. , or we could dig a temporary well for interim use . He also suggested that perhaps we could get a tank company,on the strength of approval of the bonds , to go ahead with the building of the tank for the new waterworks working out the payment later, This would mean running a line from the tank site to the closest main for connection, and this would be quite a distance and expenditure, as brought out in the discussion. The matter was discussed at length, and it was decided to consider the bids which wehave received for digging a well for this emer- gency, as the present wells c-.nnot adequately supply Mr. Adam 's re quirements and also the Town's. The bids were opened and tabulated as follows : Stevens-Southern Co. , Inc. 6" x 4" well with casing $1,984.00 r► r► rr r► 6" well " " 2,890.00 A.F.S.
