The meeting was called to order by the Predident, Mr . Minchew.
Mr. Birchall of the Engineering firm of Smith & Gillespie , was
present to discuss with th( Council some possibilities of get-
ting some additional water to tide us over the hot months before
the new system would be completed. He suggested that we could
string along as we were last summer, but eten more so by restrict-
ing the use of the water, etc. , or we could dig a temporary well
for interim use . He also suggested that perhaps we could get a
tank company,on the strength of approval of the bonds , to go ahead
with the building of the tank for the new waterworks working out
the payment later, This would mean running a line from the tank
site to the closest main for connection, and this would be quite
a distance and expenditure, as brought out in the discussion.
The matter was discussed at length, and it was decided to consider
the bids which wehave received for digging a well for this emer-
gency, as the present wells c-.nnot adequately supply Mr. Adam 's re
quirements and also the Town's.
The bids were opened and tabulated as follows :
Stevens-Southern Co. , Inc. 6" x 4" well with casing $1,984.00
r► r► rr r► 6" well " " 2,890.00
A.F.S. Water Service Co. 6" x 4" " " " 2,164.00

Duval Drilling Co. 6" x 4" " " " 2,200.00
►► u " 8" x 6" r► r► 11 3,000.00
The bids were discussed and upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by
Mr. Carr the Stevens SAuthern bid was accepted as the lowest and best
bid , and the Town Clerk was directed to write them advising that it is
our intent to award the contract to them, but we will wait until after
the election on March 21st to decide which size well will be needed.
Mr. Minchew presented a letter, for the Council 's approval, to be sent
to the registered voters explaining the election of March 21, 1955.
Hr. Thames moved , seconded by Mr. Feather, that the letter be sent to
all the registered voters , the letter to be signed by Mr. Minchew for
the Town Council.
The matter of a fence on the East Coast Drive side of the playground was
discussed , and also the need of repairs it the tennis courts. The Town
Manager was to see about both.
Upon motion of Mr . Thames the meeting adjourned from day to day at
8: 45 P.M.
