02-09-54 v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1954 AT 8 P.M. Present: E. Gerry Adams Glover Weiss Marion Marvin Norman Minchew R .S. Thames, Councilmen and J.A. Reid, Mayor Frank Thompson, Town Attorney J.D. Brotchie , Town Manager Adele S. Grage, Town Clerk The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Adams . Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of January 12, 1954 were read and upon motion of Mr. Weiss, seconded by Mr. Marvin were approved as read . A letter from Russell & Axon was read advising that they had received the information sent them to be used in preparing a feasible and practical program of sewage disposal and water extensions for the Town. A letter was read from Geo. C. Toler Jr. , Councilman of Neptune Beach advising that they fee . the Town should pay the City of Neptune Beach $1,000.00 per year, also $100.00 per trip each time the fire equipment is called out for the Town. There was a discussion of the matter of fire expense, and it was suggested that we offer them $1000. cash which would cover up to 10 fire calls, and any calls in excess of 10, we would pay $100. per call, this to be effective at time of acceptance. Mr. Minchew and Mr. Weiss were appointed to negotiate with Neptune Beach on this matter, making our offer by letter. There was a discussion of delinquent taxes and street paving assessments , and it was decided to write letters endeavouring to collect before they are turned over to the Attorney for action. Mr. Brotchie reported on additional phone service for the Town Hall, and upon motion of Mr. Marvin, seconded by Mr. Minchew he was authorized to have an additional line to take care of both incoming and outgoing calls, installed. Mr. Brotchie advised that Ike Lewis has had the streets in his sub-division graded and he therefore recommended that final acceptance be made of the tewis sub-division Q. Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr: Weiss final approval was given on the Lewis sub-division which is a part of Government Lot 4 and lying south of Church Rd. , and the President of the Council and the Town Clerk were authorized to sign the plat for the Town. Mr. Adams advised that Jacksonville Beach Council had requested representatives from our Council to meet with them to discuss advertising. Mr. Reid, Mr. Minchew and Mr. Adams were designated to meet with them. The Treasurer ' s report was presented and upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Weiss it was approved with the follow- ing balances: General Fund $17,664.30 410 Cigarette Tax " 2, 539.41 The bills were studied and upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Minchew the following were approved for payment: General Fund A mico-Burnett $ 37.00 Armco Drainage & Metal Products, Inc . 111.24 Atlantic Blvd .
