09-28-54 v MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th, 1954 AT 8 P.M. Present: Normal A. Minchew Marvin Carr E. Gerry Adams L. "Jack" Feather R.S. Thames, Councilmen and J.A. Reid, Mayor J.D. Brotchie, Town Manager Adele S. Grage, Town Clerk The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Minchew. The Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll for the yEar 1954 as prepared by the Tax Assessor , Richard Hamilton, was presented. Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Adams , the Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1954 was approved and adopted by the following Resolution setting the date for the meeting of the Council as an Equalization Board for Tuesday, Dcttber r 12, 1954 at 8 P.M. in the Town Hall: RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PRELIMINARY TAX ASSESSMENT ROLL Fes. THE YEAR 1954. WHEREAS, The Town Tax Assessor has completed the Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll of the Tarn of Atlantic Beach, Florida, for the year 1954, and has submitted the same to the Town Council, and WHEREAS, It appears that all property, real and personal, in the Town of Atlantic Beach, subject to taxation has been assessed on said Tax Assessment Roll, and the Tax Assessment j Roll is in due form. �/ NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TQ N COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, That the said Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll, be, and the same is, hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Town Clerk shall post at the Town Hall and at two other public places in the T own and shall also cause to be published in Duval C ounty, Florida, notice that said Tax Assessment Roll has been submitted to the Town Council and approved, and also requiring all persons desiring to have correct- ions thereof made, whether in listing, valuation of property or otherw' se, to file with the 'lbwn Tax Assessor on or before the / -- _ day of October, 1954, at 8 P.M. their petition to the Town Council setting forth their objection to said Assessment Roll, ynd the correction they desire made, and that also on the day of October 1954 at 8 P.I4.. the Town Council shall meet at the Town Hall for the purpose of equalizing said assessments and making proper correction therein. Upon motion of Mr. Adams, seconded by Mr. Carr the Town Clerk was directed to post and publish the following notice re : the 1954 Pre- liminary Tax Assessment Roll : • Upon motion of Mr. Adams, seconded by Mr. Thames An Ordinance approving and adopting the 1954 Tax Assessment Roll was passed on first reading by Title only. , Upon motion of Mr. Adams , seconded by Mr. Feather it was passed on second reading. Upon motion of Mr. Adams , seconded by Mr. Thames an Oiddinance adopting and approving the Budget for the Town of Atlantic Beach for the year 1951+-1955 was passed on first reading by title only. Upon motion of Mr. Adams, seconded by Mr. Feather it was passed on second reading. Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Adams An Ordinance regulating the closing hours of places selling, furnishing or dispensing alcoholic beverages as 12 midnight, 7 days a week, with opening hours to remain the same as at present, was passed on first reading by Title only. The call vote was: Adams, Feather, Thames , "aye" ; Minchew abd Carr "pass". Upon motion of Mr. Thames seconded by Mr. Adams it was passed on second reading. The call vote was: Adams, Feather, Thames "aye" ; Minchew and Carr "pass". Upon motion of Mr. Adams, seconded by Mr. Thames the following bills were approved for payment: GENERAL FUND Quinn R. John Wiley cones Co. . . . 1+2.00 Martin Office Equipment Co 25.65 City of Neptune Beach, (firex) A A 100.00 Ed Smith Lumber Co 17.62 Stevens Southern Co. 141+.18 Wilkie 's Airplane Service 853.69 Upon motion of Mr. Adams, seconded by Mr. Thames approval was given for the Town Clerk to refund $15.00 to Mr. Andrew Greig and void License # 3139 covering Beer Only C.O.P. , as Mr. Greig has decided not to serve any alcoholic beverages at his place after October 1, 1954. Upon motion of Mr. Adams , seconded by Mr. Feather approval was given to sever our connections with all emgineers on sewerage project, all having been paid for their services . "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: You are hereby notified that the Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll for the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, for the year 1954 has been completed and submitted to and approved by the Town Council. All persons desiring to have corrections made thereof, whether in listing, valua- tion of property or otherwise, are required on or before the / 2 day of October, A.D. , 1954 at $ P.M., to file with the Town Tax Assessor of the Town of atlantic Beach, their objections and corrections they desire made. The Town Council will meet at the Town Hall ln the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, on the /a, day of October, A.U. , 1954 at $ P.M. for the purpose of /6 equalizing said assessments and making proper correction therein.
