HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, JUNE 9TH, 1952 AT 8 P.M.

The meeting was called to order ,by the President, .Mr. Adams.
The minutes of the regular meeting of May 12th, 1952 were read and
upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Kirby were approved.
Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Thames approval was given to
donate $200. towards the operation and maintenance of the Neptune Beach
Volunteer Fire Departments Life Saving Truck, which is on call for emergen-
cies in Atlantic Beach.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Kirby approval was given for
the hiring of a man as of June 20th, 1952 at $4000. per year, to take over
waterworks and police work done by Mr. Leroy Johnson and other duties, and
that the Town Manager takk proper steps to secure adequate transnortation
for the new man.
Mr. Brotchie reported on the work being done to replace Specific water
lines with larger pipe.
Upon motion of Mr. Mason, sefonded by Mr. Thames endorsement was given
for theHuse of underground garbage cans, similar to those being demon-
strated by Mr. Wm. M. Hall.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by MrMason the Treasurer's report
was approved with balances as follows:
General Fund $10,369.01
Seawall Fund 1,648.12
Waterworks Fund 4,144.33
Cigarette Fund 560.36
The following bills were studied and upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded
by Mr. Mason the following were approved for payment:

Mr. Thames reported that Mr. Rolph Mickler had advised that Atlantic Boulevard
will be repaved from the new Arlington cut-off to the Ocean, in the Fall.
Mr. Adams recognized visitors present and called for business from the floor..
There was a large number ofinterested-citizens, church representatives, liquor
dealers and naval personnel present to discuss the closing hours for liquor
places in the Town. Those speaking on behalf of moving the closing hour up
to midnight from the present 4 o'clock closing time were: ChaplAiri Milton Koult;
N.A.T.C., Erven Bowery CMM.U.S.N., Rev. W.P. Everson, Mrs. Eugenia Courreges
speaking for Rev. Henry Stout who was out of the city, Rev; Henry Meyer, George
A. Pritchard, Br. Heywood Dowling, Glover Weiss, George Mozo and others. Mrs.
Louis Silver, Skip Ponti and Lester Tindall advised that they were complying in
the places of business with the present laws, and that moving the hours to midnight
would impose a hardship.and make it imp')ssible to break even with the short sea-
son wr have at the beach. There was considerable discussion pro and con, and
the Council decided that it would be advisable to study the situation further -
and would meet in the near future and take action.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames the meeting adjourned from day-to day.
