AT THE TOWN HALL ON FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH, 1952 AT 8mP.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Adams.
Plans were discussed relative to the biennial election to be held
August 12, 1952, and upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Kirby
the follnwin2 resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA, That
The Registration Books for the August 12th, 1952 municipal
Election be open from July 17th, 1952 thru August 6th, 1952
for registration of electors, same to be open during the
hours of 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on week—days, and 9 A.M. to 12 Noon
on Saturdays, and that
Candidates be qualified between July 17th, 1952 and 5 P.M.
of July 31st, 1952, and shall pay a qualification fee of $5.00.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Kirby the following Resolution
was passed:
WHEREAS, God in His wisdom has seen fit to take from our midst a most
valued and honored citizen, Mr. William Strudel, Editor of the Ocean Beach
Reporter and resident of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the Town Officials feel that we of the Beaches have lost a friend
and one who worked unselfishly for the good of our Beach Communities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA,
That, it is hereby made a matter of public record that the said Town join
with our neighbor Towns in expressing our sincerest regretat the passihg
of our friend, "Bill" Strudel and extend our deepest sympathy to his loved
ones in their hour of sorrow,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a copy of this Resolution be given to Mrs.
Strudel, and a copy furnished the press.
The matter of closing hours for places selling and serving alchoholic
beverages was discussed, and upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr.
Kirby an Ordinance was passed by Title only on first reading to set the
closing hour at 2 A.M. , the attorney to specify in same that neither
sale nor consumption to be allowed after 2 A.M., and that the 3 holidays
• be excepted. Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded b3r Mr. Thames it was
passed on 2nd reading.
Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Mason the Town Clerk was
directed to transfer the $3067.09 from the General Fund to the Seaw all
Fund, this being the amount shown by the auditor in his audit of Septem—
ber 30, 1951 as being due the Seawall from the General Fund.
Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Thames the Town Clerk was
authorized to redeem 4 Seawall Bonds now held by the Atlantic National
Bank of Jacksonville.
Upon motion of Mr. Kirby the meeting adjourned from day to day.
