The meeting was called to order by the vice-president, Mr. Mason
in the absence of the president, and went into session for Public
'-Hearing on the re-zoning of Block 64, Atlantic Beach, from Residence
A to Residence B. Mr. Thames moved that the matter be brought
under consideration, seconded by Mr. Kirby and carried.
The matter was discussed, and Mr. Bremer voiced his objections
to the change. Following the discussion, Mr. Thames moved the
passage of Ordinance # 132 on 3rd and final reading. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Kirby and carried with a call vote of Mason,
Thames, Kirby, "qye", Bremer "nay", The Ordinance approves the
the re-zoning. There were no objections other than Mr. Bremer's.
Mr. Richmond of the Oyster Bar was present and requested that
the liquor hours be extended to 4 A.M. There was a discussion
of the matter, and upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr.
Thames an Ordinance entitled " An Ordinahce Amending Ordinance
#96" was passed on 1st reading. Upon motion of Iver. Bremer,
seconded by Mr. Thames, it was passed on 2nd reading. This Ordinance
extends the closing hour to 4 A.M.
A letter was received from Mr. Ramos requesting the removal of the
palm trees on Ocean Blvd. by his building. There was a discussion,
and Mr. Keyser, and Mrs. Geo. Pritchard spoke against allowing their
removal, as we are endeavoring to plant pains and shrubs to beautify
the town, not take them down. Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded
by Mr. Thames a letter is to be written over the mayor's signature
, explaining to the owner that the Council feels the palms are an
asset to the Town, and are not to be cut down, but that txeTown
Manager will trim up.
AMr. Keyser requestedthat something be done about vacant lots as
. they are a fire and mosouito hazard. Mr. Geo. Bull advised that he
feels that if the Town cmuld have adequate machinery for the work
thatitwould be a good move to glean the lots, but not with manual
labor as heretofore. There was further discussion but no action
taken at this time:
Mr. L.O. Dunn asked if anything h s been done to try and secure lower
fire rates. Mr. Rosborough advised that rate bureau are checking the
matter now.
Upon motion of Mr. Kirby the meeting adjour -d from day to day.
