07-24-50 v MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL
HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, JULY 24th, 1950 AT 8 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Mason, who recognized visitors
present and called for any business from the floor.
There being none, the matter of closing hours for liquor places was
discussed. Mr. Thames moved, seconded by Mr. Bremer that the Ordinance
#134 regulating the hours for the sale of Alcoholic beverages be
presented for 3rd and final reading. The Clerk read the Ordinance,
and upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Thames it was passed on
third and final reading with the fine set at $100. in section 2.
The matter of recall of Town Officials as covered in HB #139 was next
discussed. Mr. Adams advised that he was not in favor of recall. as
our charter shakes provision for handling officials against whom charges
have been properly made. The Mayor and Town Attorney expressed their
Opinions against the recall, and after further discussion Mr. Adams
moved that the recall legislation as covered by HB#139 not go on the
ballot for August 8th election, this was seconded by Mr. Bremer and
carried. The call vote was: Adams, Bremer, Kirby, Masoh, and Thames
"aye".
Mr. Brotchie presented the bill frost the Water Tank Service Co.
covering work done on the water tank. He advised that the work done
was very satisfactory, and he recommended that bill be paid. Upon
motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Adams this bill in amount of
$1126.57 was approved for payment.
Mr. Russell reported on his trip to the Peach Officer's Association
convention at St. Petersburg.
Upon moti&n of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Bremer approval was given
foe payment of invoice from H.W. Walters for 7 life buoys.
Mr. Bremer presented the problem of transportation in Atlantic
Beach, and the fact that the Town has grown lore in proportion than
any other in the state, and there is no bus service within the town.
The advantages of a shuttle bus between 16th street Atlantic Beach
and Jacksonville Beach, were discussed, and upon motion of Mr. Kirby
seconded by Mr. Adams, the mayor was requested to write a letter to
the Jacksonville Coach Co. requesting shuttle bus service.
Mr. Kirby moved adjournment from day to day.
