12-11-50 v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1950 AT 8 P.M. Present: D.W. Bremer D.P. Mason Ing.G. Kirby • R.S. Thames, Councilmen and • G.L. Rosborough, Mayor Frank Thompson, Town Attorney J.D. Brotchie, Town Manager Adele S. Grave, Town Clerk In the absence of the President, Mr. Adams, the meeting was called to order by the Vice-President, Mr. ,Bremer. Minutes of the regular meeting of November 14, 1950 were read and upon motion of Mr. Maser:, seconded by Mr. Kirby, they were approved as read. • Nothing further has been heard or done on the Atlantic Boulevard Ramp. Mr. Bremer advised that Mr. Moore was not' getting to Jacksonville as often as he did, and that he therefore has not been able to contact him, relative to busses for Atlantic Beach. Mr. Brotchie advised that one Texas Company man had been down to confer on the service alley, but we have not heard from him further. Memorandum financial report was studied. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Kirby approval as given for all Tcun Employees to have Christmas Day off and a gl0. Christmas bonus. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Kirby the following Resolution was approved: WHEREAS on Receipt # 5708, Estate of Lipman, the owner failed to take the 4% discount, and has made request for same, and , Whereas ma Receipt# 5934 was a duplicate payment of taxes on Lots 470 & S -469 Saltair and refund has been requested, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA, that The Town Clerk be authorized to issue warrant in amount of $.48¢ to Estate of Lippman to cover the discount due on Receipt #5708,and To issue warrant in amount of $5.47 to Stockton,Whatley, Dakin & Co. to cover refund on duplicate payment of taxes on Lots 470 and Si-469,S.A. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Thames approval was given for payment of McCormick bills in amount of $108.50 to cover concrete for sidewalk at Town Hall, and for payment to Mrs. Harcourt Bull, Sr. of $24.00 to cover culvert removed from ditch at her property and used by the Town. Mr. Brotchie to see McCormick & Sons relative to getting this payment applied on the bill we have against them for water used in jetting piling on the Meyers and Adams jobs in 1548. It was reported that Mr. Jos. Glickstein and Mr. Chas. Pelot are ill, and the Town Clerk was directed' to write letters to them expressing best wishes of the Council and officials for their recovery. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Kirby, Mr. Brptchie was directed to take necessary steps to secure 1/2 mile of cast iron 6" pipe to be used for the extension and enlarging water lines. It was brought out that the payment on the waterworks, purchase contract will be due January 1st, and upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Mason, the Town Clerk was directed to transfer $3000. from the General Fund to the Waterworks Fund and make payment to_ Mr. Adams on the water- works purchase contract. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Kirby the following Resolution was adopted: A RESOLUTION URGING THE RE-DESIGNATION OF TIS HIGH`.JAY BETWEEN JACKSONVILLE BEACH, NEPTUNE BEACH, ATLANTIC BEACH, NiAYP ORT , FERNAI?D INA, YULEE AND CALLAHAii AS FLORIDA HIGHWAY AIA --AND THE RE-DESIGNATIONS OF THE HIGIIdAYS BETWEEN JACKSONVILLE AND ATLANTIC BEACH, NEPTUNE BEACH, AND JACKSONVILLE BEACH AS U.S. HIGH- WAY 90 AND ALTERNATE 90. WHEREAS State Highway 105 between I1ayport and Fernandina was recently opened to traffic and is connected with U.S. C. Highway 1 at Callahan and U.S. Highway 17 at Yulee by Florida Highway 200 ; and WHEREAS Florida Highway- ATA is connected with 1ayport by way of County Roads through the Town of Atlantic Beach and County Road 608 (Seminole Beach Road) , County Road 1312 (Holiday Road) and County Road 16 (Old Iaytort Road) and WHEREAS it is desired that Florida Highway AIA be extended Northerly over the above mentioned roads and high- ways to hayport, Fernandina, Yulee and Callahan in order to connect with U.S. Highways 1 and 17 thereby making Florida Highway AIA continue to the Northern extremity of the State and at the same time , simplify the present highway designad tions ; and HP,PLLAS it is desired that the present designations of Florida Highway AIA between Jacksonville and Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach be re-designated as U.S. Highway 90, and Florida Highway 212 between Jacksonville and Jack3 onville Beach be re-designated as U.S. Highway Alternate 90, in order that U.S. Highway 90 be extended Easterly to Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Jacksonville Beach, thereby making it extend from the Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Coast; NOW THERS'ORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the iiayor and Town council of th$ Town of Atlantic Beech, Florida Sec. 1. That the Florida State Road Department be urged to take the necessary steps to re-designate the aforementioned highways as desired, at the earliest possible date. Sec. 2. That copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor of the State of Florida, to the State Road Department, to the several members of the Duval County Delegation of the 1951 State Legislature , to the Board of County Commissioners, Duval County, to the Board of County Commissioners, Nassau County, to the Fernandina Port Authority, to the City of Jacksonville , to the City of Fernandina, to 010 the Town of Yulee, to the City of Callahan, to the Town of Neptune Beech, to the City of Jacksonville Beach. Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Thames approval was given for elimination of improvement from 1948 and 1949 Tax trolls on Lot 7, Block 17 Donner's sub—division, as there is no house on this lot and the improvement was placed there in error.
