The meeting w as called to order by the President , Mr.
Travis.
Minutes of the regular meeting of August 9th, 194$
were read and upon motion of Mr. Minchew, seconded by Mr.
Williams, theywere approved as read.
Upon motion of Mr. Merritt , seconded by Mr. Williams
the bill from the Beach Printing Co. in amount of $11.50."
for election ballots was approved for paynent.
The following Resolution was introduced by Mr. N.A.
Minchew, seconded by Mr. Merritt :
WHEREAS , The Inspectors and the Clerk of the General
Election held in Atlantic Beach, Florida , on August 10th,A.D.
194$ for the Purpose of electing a Mayor and Five Councilmen,
canvassed the votes cast and did make due returns of the same
in words and figures as follows:

FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND FIVE COUNCILMEN.

We , the undersigned, being the Inspectors and Clerk appointed
to conduct the General Election in the Town of Atiantif Beach, on
Tuesday, August 10th, 1948, for the purpose of electing a Mayor
and five Councilmen, hereby certify that we conducted said election
on said date , and counted the ballots cast for and against the
candidates whose names are printed on the ballots and find the
results to be as follows :
The number of qualified voters, according to the Registration Book

The number of such qualified voters who participated in said
eledtion, and who cast ballots in said election, WAS 410

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that it is herewith unanimously
voted that said returns be accepted as reported,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and it is hereby found and deter-
mined by the Town Council of Atlantic Beach, acting in the
capacity of a canvassing board, that a majority of the quali-
fied voters , who participated in said General Election cast
their votes in favor of the above candidates as follows :

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE NEWLY ELECTED TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH HELD TUESDAY, AUGUST 10TH,
1948, AT THE TOWN HALL AT 10:15 P.M.
In line with the findings of the Canvassing Board,
the following were sworn into Office by the Town Clerk:
G.L. Rosborough, Mayor
and
D.P. Mason
F.P. Ganzell
D.W. Bremer
High M. Rawls
W.G. Kirby, Councilmen
The Mayor presided and called for nominations of R
President of the Council. Upon motion of Mr. Bremer,
seconded by Mr. Kirby, Mr. Ganzel was elected as President .
The meeting was tnerefore turned over to Mr. Ganzel who called
for nominations of a vice-president. Upon motion of Mr. Kirby,
seconded by Mr. Rawls, Mr. D.P . Mason was elected Vice-President .
Upon motion of Mr. rtawls , seconded by Mr. Mason the following
Resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA, That
The present employes be retained until permanent appointments
are made at the second meeting hence.
Upon motion of Mr. Rawls , seconded by Mr. Bremer August 23rd
was chosen as the next regular meeting date .
The matter of Tax Assessor was discussed, and Mr. Rosborough
and Mr.- Mason advised that they would see Mr. Register, and
ascertain if he is going to serve, as it is hecessary that we
start work on the 194$ Tax Roll.
The Mayor advised that he would make recommendations as to a
Judge at the next meeting.
Upon motion of Mr. Mason, the meeting adjourned.
