MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN
COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY , SEPTEND3ER 21st , 194$
at $ P.M.

J. Alvin Register , Tax Assessor
C .H. Frazier, Town Cup$rvisor and Acting Town Clerk.
Mr. Register explained his method of setting up a proposed
preliminary tax roll for 194$ and it was pointed out that
this proposed roll needs a lot more work. Mr. Register es-
timated that it would require about two weeks of his time
to fully complete it and that he does not have the time . He
suggested that a Council Committee with , perhaps some property
owners, might re-work the Roll.
Mr. Register's suggestion as to a committee was discussed at
length.
Mr. Mason moved that we take the figures and assessments as
set up by Mr. Register and between now and October 15th , the
Council, to-gether with the Town Supervisor and the Citizens
Committee appointed by the chair, make a personal investiga-
tion of all the property in the Town and after they reach the
conclusion as to the valuations , in their honest opinion,
that such properties be assessed at 75% of the valuations
established by them; that after valuations have been set up
that Mr. Register come down and go over the figures arrived
at . This mption was seconded by hr. Rawls and unanimously
adopted. The (Thairman of the Finance and Taxation Committee ,
Mr. Mason, is to be Chairman of the comhiittee.
lir. Register stated that he would be out of the city after
October 12th, but that he would be available up to then.
The Council adjourned from day to day .
