11-10-48 v MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TO4N HALL ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th, 1948, AT 7 P.P . Present : F. P. Ganzel D. P. Mason W. G. Kirby, Councilmen and J. Alvin Register, Tax Assessor C. R. Frazier, Town Supervisor The Tax Assessor made further study of the preliminary Tax Roll for 1948 and then presented the Preliminary Roll. Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by ?•r. Mason, thg following resolution was adopted, Ganzel, Mason, and Kirby voting yes . RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PRELIMINARY TAX ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR THE YEAR 1948. WHEREAS , The Town Tax Assessor has completed the Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, for the year 1948, and has submitted the same to the Town C ouncil, and WHEREAS , It appears that all property, real and personal , in the Town of Atlantic Beach, subject to taxation has been assessed on said Tax assessment Roll, and the Tax Assessment Roll is in due form, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida , that the said Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll , be , and the same is , hereby approved. BE IT FU. 'THER RESOLVED That the Town Clerk shall post at the Town Hall and at two other public places in the Town and shall also cause to be published daily for four consecutive days in a news- paper published in the City of Jacksonville, C uval County, Florida, notice that said Tax Assessment Roll has been submitted to the Town Council and approved, and also requiring all persons desiring to have corrections thereof made , whether in listing, valuation of property or otherwise , to file with the Town Tax Assessor on or before the 22nd day of November, 194$ at $ P. I. their petition to the Town Council setting forth their objection to said assessment roll and the correction they desire made, and that also on the 22nd day of November , 194$ at $ P .I . the Town Council shall meet at the Town Hall for the purpose of equalizing said assessments and making proper correction therein. Upon motion of ,i- .Mason seconded by Er. Kirby the Town C lerk was directed to post the following notice setting the date for the Town Council to meet as a Board of Equalization, the date being fixed as $ P.M. November 22nd, 1948. NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TAX ASS ESSM NT ROLL OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA FOR THE YEAR 194$: "TO WHOM IT NAY CONCERN: You are hereby notified that the Preliminary Tax Assessment Roll for the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, for the year 1948 , has been completed and submitted to and approved by the Town Council. All persons desiring to have corrections made thereof, whether in listing, valuation of property or otherwise , are required on or before the 22nd day of November, A.D. 194$ at ,8 P .M. to file with the Town Tax Assessor of the Town of Atlantic Beach their objections to the said assessments and corrections they desire made . 1 The Town Council will meet at the Town Hall in the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida , on the 22nd day of October, 194$ at 8 P .M. for the purpose of equalizing said assessments and making proper correction therein. All persons who will file petitions aforesaid will be given the opportunity to be heard at said meeting. Adele S . Grage, Town Clerk and Tax Collector for the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida . " Upon motion of i4r. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Mason an ordinam sec nd entitled "AN ORDINANCE tax roll , etc . was passed on first,' reading4. Upon motion of Mr. Kirby seconded by irir. Mason and passed the schedule of discounts o' general tax was fixed as follows , this action being necessary on account of the lateness of the completion of the roll . A 4% discount will be allowed fcr payment on all 1948 taxes to December 31, 1948, 2% for payment in January, 1949, 1% in February, 1949, net Larch 1949, and delinquent after April 1, 1949. The matter of back filling at the ieCottes and Clarkson property north of Fifth Street was referred to Mr. Kirby for inspection and report back to next meeting. Town supervisor Frazier was given a vacation starting the 11th and ending the 22nd of November, 1948. Mrs. Grage, Town Clerk, is to b e given the other week due on her vacation at her pleasure . Mr. Mason moved that in view of the fact that Larshal Russell had passed his regular time for vacation and it not now being possible to take him from his duties , that he be given two weeks pay in lieu of va cation.
