MINUTES OF THE RECESSED I..!TING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN
COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH,
1948 AT $ P.N.

Mr. Joe Drummond, representing the Southern Bell Tel. & Tel.
Co. advised that his company did not know on what percentage
assessments were made , and had therefore only made returns
on 50% basis and they would therefore like to change their
return to ;16,272. it was brought out in the discussion that
this figure was agreeable to the Tax Assessor, therefore on
motion of r. Kirby, seconded by Mr. Bremer the new return
figure of .;x16,272 . was approved for the 1948 Tax Roll. The vote
was Kirby, Bremer, and Ganzel "aye" .
The matter of the assessment on the Hotel Reservation was discussed,
Mr. Frazier advised that h4 had talked to Mfr. Adams on Tuesday
morning and that he was leaving the city right then, and. did not
have any figures ready. After further discussion,and upon motion
of Mr. Kirby, seconded by Ir. Bremer the Preliminary Tax Roll 194$
assessment of ?.;179,$84. is to remain as listed. The vote was
Kirby, Bremer, Ganzel "aya".
Upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by T.r. Bremer the lots
listed in :.r. Fred Williams , Jr. ' s letter to remain as lmsted
-- — on 194 Preliminary Tax Roll unless "swampy"and/or "low" .
Upon motion of. .Ir. Kirby, seconded by Mir. Bremer, the lots
listed in Mr. R.C. Thames' letter to remain as listed on 1948
Preliminary Tax Roll unless "swampy".and/or "low".
Upon motion of I-Ir. Kirby, seconded by hr. Bremer the lots
42 & 44, Block 11 to remain same as on 1948 Preliminary Tax
Roll unless "low and/or swampy" .
The Budget for the year 1948-49 was presented by Mr. Ganzel in
the absence of the other members of the Finance and Taxation
Committee, who were out of the city. This budget was discussed
item by item. Following this discussion and upon motion of Mr.
Kirby, seconded by Fr. Bremer the following budget for the year
1948-49 was approved and adopted:

Ordinance i/ 121 entitled " An Ordinance to Approve and Adopt the
Tax Assessment Roll for 1948, and to determine and fix the rate
of taxation and make the annual tax levy for the year 1948" was
read by the Town Clerk and upon motion of Mr. Kirby, seconded by
Mr. Bremer it. was passed on third and final reading. The millage
was set at 15 mills for general purposes, and 1 mill for Town' s
share Seawall.
Proof of publication covering the notice of meeting of Board of
Equalization on the 194$ Tax Roll as; furnished by the Jacksonville
Journal is attached to these minutes and made a part thereof.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer seconded by Mr. Kirby December 6th and
20th were set as . the dates for the ` ')euember meetings.
