05-12-47 v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH
TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TUN HALL ON MONDAY, MAY 12TH, 1947
AT 8 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President ,
Mr. Beale Travis.
The minutes of the regular meeting of April 14th,1947
were read and were approved with corrections as made, upon motion
of Mr. Bull, seconded by Mr. Williams .
The minutes of the special meeting of April 28th, 1947
were approved as read upon motion of IVIr. Iviinchew, s econded by
Mr. Bull.
Upon motion of Mr. Williams , seconded by iqr. Merritt
the minutes of the adjourned meeting of April 30th , 1947
were approved as read .
Mr. Bull reported that Mr. Durden will prepare a sup-
plementary map to scale that will join the present map at the
west side of Saltair and extend to the west limits of the
Town. This should be ready in about 10 days. Mr. Thompson
will have the Ordinance ready in time to `advertise for a
public hearing at the next meeting.
1•1r. Frazier reported that he hopes to have some of the
piling jetted down to-morrow ready to start on the concrete
steps.
Mr. Freci Wil] ian s was present and advised that he would
talk to Mr. Cranford about the Seawall Bonds and have a report
back to Council by the newt regular meeting as to prices , etc .
Upon motion of Mr. Bull seconded by Mr. Williams the
following Resolution was passed:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF ATLANTIC BEACH , DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA:
THAT an Annual Service Charge of $10.00 for each said
unit he made.
Mr. Frazier reported that he had written. Mr. Boyer relative
to the service charge to be paid to the Town of Neptune Beach, but
has had no reply to date .
There has been nothing further heard from Russell & Axon on
the Sewerage. Mr. Frazier is to write them , and as soon as the
specifications , etc . are received a special meeting Of Council
is to be called to consider the matter of sewerage only.
Upon motion of Mr. Williams , seconded by I r. Minchew, the
Treasurer's Report was approved. The balances as of i:ay 1, 1947
were as follows:

Upon motion of Mr. Minchew, seconded by Lir. Merritt the

It was suggested that the Police and Public Safety
Committee contact Jacksonville Beach relative to the
monthly charge for radio service .
Mr. Frazier suggested that we start now working on the
1947 Tax Roll. The matter was referred to the Finance and
Taxation Committee for recommendations at the next meeting
with a view of seeing if Mr. Register will serve as Assessor,
and requesting that property west of Sherry Drive be actually
assessed.
It was ecided to let the Honor Roll remain in present
location under the care of the Atlantic Beach Garden Circle,
with the understanding that it will be kept up.
Mr. Frazier recommended that we build all necessary
concrete steps at this time , even if we have to finance them.
It was suggested that as soon as Mr. Merritt ' s steps are
finished and figures can be ascertained, that a meeting
of Council be called to determine further building and
financing.
As to the 7th Street runway, action was delayed until a
later meeting.
Upon motion} of Mr. Minchew the meeting adjourned to
Tuesday Night , May 13th, 1947.
