Mr. Mann, on Engineer for the Wood Preservative
Products Association, explained the use of Oiling in the form of
groins or baffles as use on beach erosion. Hc expressed the
opinion that such a preventative measure would be highly
successful and would go a long wcy toward the prevention of
future beach trouble . He strongly advocated the pressing of a
request for a survey in this vic:'. nity by the U. S. Beach Erosion
Board.
The Council then wont into discussion concerning the accrual of
approximately $25 ,000.00 on costs incurred durinc the emergency
and it was decided that a comprehensive report should be pre-
pared and submitted to the property owners along the ocean front
in on effort to arrive at some method of defraying the expenses
already incurred and Mr. Bull moved that the property owners
along the ocean front be informed that the Town' s finances are
now such that further work of reclamation cannot be undertaken
unless funds for that purnoso arc immediately provided and he
further moved that unless casements are signed and delivered to
the Town that now that the emergency is over. the Town employees
cannot be permitted to further intrude upon private proierty.
Mr . Villiams seconded this motion end it was adopted.
By unanimous consent , it was decided a meeting should be called
of all ocean front proocrty owners for Saturday, October 18th
at 3 : 30 P.M. in order that all facts in possession of the Mayor
and Town Council made be presented to the property owners .
Upon motion of Mr. Williams , seconded by Mr. Merritt , the thanks
of the governing body for ' he excellent roi,k done by Mr. George
Bull and Mi'. Prod Lawrence , tare extended. Those gentlemen were
lauded for their leadership , initiative =arid untiring efforts.
The mooting adjourned from day to day with the understanding that
a ouorum would be present on Friday, October 17th at 8 P.M.
