ATLANTIC BEACH TONN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL, TUESDAY,
8 P. M. , MARCH 13, 1945.

The meeting was held after Postponement from day
to day from March 6 , 1945 .
James A . Cranford, President , called the meeting
to order.
The minutes of the February 6th, 1045 meeting
were read and approved,
The first matter of bus _ ries to be considered was
the repairing to the street-ends. Mr. Durden of the B.B.
McCormick and Sons presented to the Council their Quotation
of $602.40 to fill street ends within the Town limits. fftcr
discussion end upon motion of L .L. Jones, seconded by E.L.
Chiasson the following Resolution to accept the bid was
passed:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TO NN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
That the estimate of the D.B. McCormick and Sons
of $602.40 to cover amount of fill necessary for the street-
ends
treet-
ends in Atlantic Beach proper, be accepted , and that the
B.B. McCormick and Sons be euther•ized to do the work
with terms for payment of CO days.
The auestior_ of mucking was brought up and r. Durden
advised the t he would be glad to co-operate with tlec Tuwn when
ready to do the mucking.
Mr. Frazier reported that electric lightd had been
extended to some of the places on the Mayport Feed, and that
they hoped to extend it further.
Upon motion of E .L. Jones, seconded by Beale Travis
the following resolution as to a new truck was passed:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA :
That the previous action to repair old truck be
recinded due to being impractical , and
THAT a new truck be bought , price h1632.32.
The Town Supervisor was instructed to use the old
truck body temporarily, and to secure ceiling price from
O .P.A. on old truck and to sell old truck at ceiling price
by advertisement.
Mr. Frazieradvised that he had secured prices on the
111 new tires for the police ccr. The buying of the tires were
left to Mr. Frazier end the Police Committee .
Upon motion of Beale Travis seetnded by Don Goodling
the following resoluti on was passed:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TONN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH , Florida:
THAT the Resolution passed on February 6th, 1945 regarding
issuing of Liquor Linence be recinded.
Mr . Rosborough reported that he had talked to Mr.
Sollee regarding the Hotel Reservation rood , and that Mr.
Sollee advised that it .yes out of the picture now for the
county to fix the toad as he wan not allowed to hire men
to do road work. He advised that a survey would be made
of the reed and blue pri ntsr,ade , but they are not ready to
date . Er. Solice will be willing to furnish the material
but cannot suap iy the labor. It was suggested by the
Council that Mr. Foaborough , Mr. Junes , and Mr. Gerry /dams
meat with Mr. Splice and discuss this matter.
Mr. Roaborough reported thea he talked to Mr. Jenkn , Meyor
of Neptune Beach and that he favors very much the ur ifi ed
playground idea and would be willing per^onaliy to contribute
to-wards, it , if necessary . Mr. Rosborough and Mr. Jones both
talked to Mayor Pra -i ee of Jacksonville Beach , and he advised
that they already hod a man in charge of their playground, but
anked that Mr. Ronborough , 'r. Jones and Mr. Ganzel apserr before
the Jacksonville Beach Council on Monday Night, March 19th,
and present the plan.
In the absence of the Treasurer, the report tea reed
by ; r. Chiosson. Upon motion of E.L. Jonce , seconded by Beale
Travis it woo occeni:ed. The report :Mowed a balance as of
March 1 , 1945 of $8 ,185 .37 in the General Fund , and $5 ,537.56
in the Special seawall _,,ccount.
Upon motion of E .L. Jones , neconded by Seale Travis

Upon motion of L.L. Chiasson, seconded by Don
Goodling the following resolution was panned :
BE IT RBSOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA;
That Warrant 0632 in the amount of X36.00 made
for payment to Mr. Gerry Adams , Home Utilities Co. be
voided, as :Ir. Adams returned name to the Town ei nce he
did not intend to bill the Town for the water.
The Town Clerk was instructed to write a letter
of apprec ioti on to Mr. Adams.
Comriuniccylon won read from Mr. John _ Fletcher,
President of the Jacksonville Coach Company ntatging their
desire to give better transportation facilities for the
Beattie- By unanimous consent, appreciation wee expressed
on the effort to improve the bus service , and it wee also
decided th t we should follow up out letter to the Motor
Transit Company granting them permit to use the streets of
Atlantic Beach. This letter with Resolution wen sent to
the Motor Transit Company on July 13 , 1944 and was never
accepted or answered.
The matter of the Town getting insurance policy
on the Likins gera;Be , was dincunaed and can not be dune .
Mr. Frazier presented his monthly report , most of
which had already been acted upon. However, he did
add that he had made some mix-by-hand and repaired some
of the streets.
He also advisee: the Council of the nes! Health Center
being built by the City of Jacksonville Beach to nerve all
of the Beaches, and that a drive in to be made to supply
fmndn for furnishing and e- uiping the building when fin-
ished. A member of the Health Council will appear before
the Council at the next meeting at which ti:e the Council
will act upon donating to-wards th_ s drive.
Tho ouention of new :steps for the street-ends was
referred to the ?ublic Works Commikgee , and Mr. Jones and
Mr. Ctiivaaon arc to look into all types of steps and report
1st the next council meeting.
Traffic and apeeu sign., for the beach were referred
to Mr. Travis and Mr. Frazier, who will decide on the type
of sign and locations.
Upon motion of F .L. Jones, seconded by Beale Travis ,
the meeting adjourned.
