ATLANTIC BEACH TO NN COUNCIL HELD AT TH TOWN HALL , TUESDAY,
8 P.M. , AUGJST 7TH, 1945..

The meeting was culled to order by E.L. Jhiassou,
Vise-President in the absence of the President.
Upon motion of E.L. Jones, seconded by Don
Goodling the monutes were approved as read.
Upon motion of E.L. Jones, Seconded by Don
Goodling, an 0rdinallae " Changing the name of Atlanta Street
to Ahern Street" was passed on third and final reading. The
new nare is in memory of Lt."Jaek"Ahern , kfl4ed in action en
December 16th , 1944.
Don Goodling, chairman of the Laws and Rules
Comp ittee, reported that his committee recommended M'r. Frank
Thompson as mown Attorney to replace 1'r. C. C. Novell, Jr. ,
resigned. Upon motion of Don Goodling seconded by Beale
Travis, Thompson vas elected Town " ttorney. There alas
no ehurge rade in the fees paid.
Mr. Jones advised that he did not see Mr. Sollee ,
Frazier advised. that 'r. Sollee vies coming to the beach or.
some other matters and he would talk to him. It vas also broBght
out that the suggestion had been made that Motel Reservation road
be paved with brick. The re was much discussion, and the idea of
the use of brick vas very favorable .
Upon motion of Beale Travis, Seconded by E.L. Jones
the Treasurer1s report vas approved.
Er. Rosborough advised that he would see T.T.
Phillips of the Gulf Life Insurance Co. relative to taking up
some of the Seavall Bonds.

A. letter from Mr. Frcdcriek H. Levis was oresented
to Council by "r. Frazier. Mr. Levin eras requesting ,p erris_sior_
to move the Time Office from the Eastport Conttruction Co.
onto his Lot 6 Block 31 , Atlantic neae'h. After very serious
consideration of the matter and discussion the Council instruct-
ed Mr. Frazier to write Mr. Lewis and turn down his appli-
cation, as they did not feel a permit should be granted.
Upon motion of Don Goodling, seconded by E.L. Jones,

WHEREAS, application aas received from Yrs. V.G.
Garrett for the operation of a Nursery School at 326 Ocean
3oulcvard, Atlantic Deaeh, Florida, to `:e operated 5 days a
week between the hours of 9 A.M. and 12 Noon, and
WHEREAS the operation of said school conforms to
this ?one,
BE IT RESOLVED 3Y THE PAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL of the
Tonin of Atlantic reach, Ploride that permission be given and
is hereby gtanted to Mrs. I.G. Garrett and Yrs. Oliver 'Tall
to operate a Nursery School at 326 Ocean 3oule'eard for five
clays a week between the hours of 9 A.i: . and 12 Noon.
Upon motion of E.L. Jones, seconded by kale Travis
the Town Clerk vas authorized to pay F.P. Ganzel, Sr. x'100.
for services rendered as municipal Judge to September 30,1945.
Upon notion of E.L . Jones, seconded by Don Goodling
Warrants #5868 and 5945 were voided.
The tentative budget for the Year 1945-46 was pre-
sented to the Cowell by Mr. Chiasson, Chairman othe
Finance and Taxation Conic ttee, each Item being conmidered
separately. Upon motion of Don Goodling and seconded by

Yr. Ronborough read a letter he had received from
Mr. Palmer, City Manager of the City of Jacksonville neacih
advising that on meek-days they have their own I ife Savers
who can only be sent to other beaches for emergencies if it
does not leave their beach unprotected. The Council asked Mr.
Posborough to see "r. Glickstein of Neptune Beach, to see if
an arrangement could be worked out for the two towns to jointly
employ a Life Saver for week-days. It was understood that the
Red Cross would be glad to furnish them with a truck and Life
'out for weekday use.
Yr. Posborough presented some additional ' nf'ernation
and ideas relative to financeing a waterworks for the Town.
The matter was referred to the Public Works Coiri 'ttee riho are
to talk to Yr. Adans.
Upon motion of 7.L. Jones, Seconded by Don Goodling,
Brooke , G. White , Jr. was elected Tax Assessor for the year.
Yr. Frazier' s report as Town Supervisor for the month
of July, 1945 was read and filed.
Upon _motion of E.L. Jones, sesoddecl by Den Goodling,
James A. Cranford roan elected President of the Council for the
coling year.
There being no further business the meeting. was
adjourned.
