04-06-43 v MINUTES OF THE R7GULi F MONTHLY ME-'TING OF THE ATL1NTIC BEACH TONN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL LT 7:30 P.M. APRIL 6 , 1943. Present : H. G. Isaacs E. L. Chiasson J. A. Cranford Beale Travis Mayor G. L. Posborough and Town Attorney C. C.Howell , Jr. The meeting was called to order by the President and the Clerk read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting of March 2, 1943 and the Special meeting of March 15 , 1943 , which were approved as read. Mr. Vickers , the Town Treasurer, submitted his usual monthly financial report which was approved and ordered filed. Mr. Vickers also delivered 56 couons from Seawall Bonds, representing the April 1 , 1943 interest on these bonds. Upon motion of Mr. Cranford, seconded by 'fir. Travis , the following bills were approved and ordered paid: Southern Bell Telephone (Town Hall ) 4. 98 Beech Printing Company 13.50 Arnold Printing & Label Co. 17 .75 Jax Beach Truck Line , Inc . .93 Joseph H. Walsh Co. (I. 5. Tires) 38.81 R. E. Nilkerson & Co. (Office Supplies) 1 .00 Flash Light Batteries and Boys to deliver bus notices(J. L. Fussell ) 1 .60 Dickinson 's Hardware .95 Charles Cook Howell , Tr. for at' endance at Council Meeting , March 2, 1943. 5 .00 The Texas Company 18.35 Mason Lumber & Supoly Co. 80.01 Health Unit Telephone 7 .39 City of Jax Beach (Radio) 30.00 Insurance Note Due 14th 43. 71 C . C. Howell , rr. (Balance on Grice Case )350.00 Shell Oil Company 48.26 Bill 's Garage 3.00 A discussion was had in reference to the Army regulations on dimout. The matter was passed pending further action of the Defense Council in an effort to clarify the regulations. Mr . Chiasson reported that he has lust about completed the personel of the Planning Board and will probably be ready to announce the full Committee at the next meeting. Upon motion of Mr. Travis , seconded by Mr. Chiasson, the time for Council Meetings during the summer months was set as the first Tuesday in each month at 8 :00 p.m. , at the Town Hall . A discussion was had in reference to the Saltair Road connection with Seminole Beach Road. The City Supervisor advised that the County Engineer had not yet come to the office in reference to this matter and the Mayor stated that he would again take the matter up with the County Commission. The Mayor reported that he had conferred with Defense Council officials in reference to the securing of fire equipment and that the local Commander would confer with the City Supervisor in reference to this matter. At this time the rea,ulsr order of business was suspended and Mr. Pete Dickinson and Mr. Montgomery, representing the Reaches Chamber of Commerce were presented. Thgroutlined the benefits of all of the Beaches from the Chamber of Commerce and asked financial sup -ort from the Town In order that a limited advertising campaign would be continued for the duration. -2- Upon motion of Mr. Cranford , seconded by Mr. GOrd, $100.00 from +he advertising fund and 125.00 from the contingent fund was au4-hori2ed paid on a monthly basis at the rate of 1'25.00 per month for the blance of the current fiscal year to the Chamber of Commerce for advert sling nurnoses . The Clerk reed a letter from the Trensurer of the Reaches Defense Council in reference to funds for the expenses of the Council. Upon motion of Mr. Crcnford , seconded by Mr. Travis , 1100.00 was authorized for this nurnose and the Clerk was directed to advise th- t if and when other funds are available further consideration will be given to this matter. Upon recommendation of Mr. Chiasson , the Council by unanimous consent directed that the City Supervisor retain complete suocrvi s' on over the Town Park. The City Supervisor advised that he would close out the hog raising business; that sever..-1 pigs had been lost; that by selling the remaining that the account would show a profit. The letters and resolutions from the P.T.A . and Mothers Study Groups of the Jacksonville Beach School and the Atlantic Neptune School asking that the Town pass a curfew law were read and received and ordered filed.
