09-08-42 v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY 'METING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TONN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TONN HALL AT 8 P. M. SEPTEMBER 8 , 1942. Present: H. G. Isaacs E. I . Chiesson James A. Cranford S. S. Jacobs Beale Travis The Mayor and Town Pttorney. Mr. Cranford was sworn in as a member of the Council by the Clerk. The minutes of the regular monthly meeting of hug. 11-25 were a.)proved as read. The report of the Treasurer , upon motion of Mr. Cranford, seconded by Lr. Chiesson , was approved end ordered filed. Upon motion of Mr. Cranford, seconded by Mr. Jacobs , the following bills were app )roved and ordered paid: C . C. Howell , Jr. 5.00 Mason Lumber Company • - 20.25 C. C. Howell , Jr. 75.00 Shell Company 29.90 Duval Motors - - - - 9.65 ?eun Equipment Comoeny 1 .02 $140. 82 Upon motion of Mr. Chiesson, seconded by Mr. Jacobs the following resolution was adopted: "A RESOLUTION authorizing the President of the Town Council , and the Town Clerk of the Town of Atlantic Reach, Florida , to exeucte promissory notes" . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TONN COUNCIL OF THE TONN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA: Ve , the Town Council of the Town of Atlantic Peach, Florida , do hereby appoint Henry G. Isaacs and C . R. Frazier, respectively • the President of the Town Council and the Town Clerk of the said Town, our joint attorneys for us and in our name and stead, to jointly and in their respective official capacities , drew , sign and endorse oromis-ory notes ; and to waive demand notice , and notice of protest of all such notes. Giving and F:.ranting unto our said attorneys full power and authority to do and )erform all and every act and thing whatsoever re:-.uisite , necessary or Proper to be done in and about the premises , as fully to all intents end purposes , as we , acting in an aggregate official capacity , might or could do ; hereby ratifying and con- firming all that our said attorneys shell lawfully do , or cause to be done by virtue hereof. " Mr. Chiesson then moved that the Town borrow *1000. from some bank in Duval County pon a ninety day note. This motion was seconded by rrr . Jacobs and unanimously adopted . After some discussion concerning lar Fisk Insurance on the Seawall , the matter was referred back to the Committee for further investigEtion and report. At this point considerable study was made on a budget for the coming year. The matter was returned to Committee for further study. The preliminary Tax Roll for the year 1942 was then submitted to the Council . After some study the preliminary roll was then edooted by the following, resolution Introduced 40 by Mr. Cranford end seconded by Mr. Travis : RESOLUTION , aonroving the -'reliminary Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1942: WHEREAS, The Town Tax Assessor has completed the Preliminary Assessment Roll of the Town of Atlantic Beach , Florida for the year 1942 , and has submitted the same to the Town Council , and, NHEREAS, it appears that all oroperty, real and ,personal , in the Town of Atlantic Beach subject to taxation has been assessed on said Tax Asses=ment Roll , and the Tax Assessment Doll is in due form. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLBED BY THE TO.VN COUNCIL of the Town of Atlantic Beech , Florida , that the said Preliminary Tax Assess- ment Roll be , and the same is , hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Town Clerk shell post at the Town Hall and at two other oublic places in the Town and shall also c-use to be published daily for four consecutive days in a newspaper published In- the City of Jacksonville , Duval County, 4110 Florida , notice that said assessment Roll hes been submitted to the Town Council and soproved and also requiring all persons desiring to have corrections thereof made , whether in the list- ing, valuation of orooerty or otherwise , to file with the Town Tax Assessor on or before the 6th day of October , 1942 at 8 ". , their oetition to the Town Council setting forth their objection to said assessmen' roll and the correction they desire made , end also that on the 6th day of October , 1942 at 8 o' clock P. V. the Town Council will meet at the Town Hall for the ournose of e,;utilizing said assessments and making orooer correction therein. X Upon motion of Mr. Cranford , seconded by ?`r. Jacobs , the Town Clerk was directed to post the following notice at the Town Hall and at two other public places in the Town and to cause the said notice to be published four consecu' ive days in a Jacksonville , Duval County, Florida paper : NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF DPELi ,'INA'RY TAX ASSESSMENT POLL OF THE TONN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLOPIDA , FOP THE YEAP 1942: "TO ;THOM IT MAY CONCERN : You are hereby n-tified that the Preliminary Tax Assessment Poll for the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida , for the year 1942 , has been completed and submitted to and approved by the Town Council . tll persons desiring to have corrections made thereof , whether in listing , valuation of property or otherwise , are renuired on or before the 6th day of October A. D. , 1942 et 8 D . U. to file with the Town Tax Assessor of the Town of Atlantic Beach, their objections to the said assessments and correction they desire made . The Town Council will meet at the Town Hall In the Town of Atlantic Beach , Florida , on the 6th day of October, 1942 at 8 P. U. for the ouroose of e- utilizing said assessments and matk- ing orooer correction t: erein. All persons who shall file petitions as aforesaid will be given the onoortunity to be heard at said meeting. . T . Frazier, Town Clerk and Tax Collector for the Town of Ltlentic Beach, Florida . " The City Supervisor called attention to a letter regib - ceived from Harvey Mabry, Claim Attorney for the City of •Jackson- ville in reference to the cost of installation of a street light at ?laza and Sherry Drive .
