COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL SEPTEMBER 17, 1941 AT 7 :30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by "r. Isaacs, pursuant
to the following notice:

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
You, and each of you, will please take notice that there
will be a special meeting of the Atlantic Reach Town Council
at 7:30 P.M. September, 17, 1941 at the Town Hall. The purposes
for which this special meeting is called are as follows:
( a) To swear in as eounci.lman Mr. S.S. Jacobs, who was
elected by the Council to fill the unexpired term of Harcourt
Bull , Jr. , which election was held at the regular monthly meet-
ing on Sept. 9, 1941.
(b) To receive from the Tax Collector the Preliminary
Tax Roll for the year 1941 , to approve or reject same , to call
a meeting of the Town Council as an Equalization Board and to
take such other action as is necessary in connection therewith.
( c) To reconsider action of the Council taken at the
Regular meeting in reference to trading for a new car for police
work and, to take appropriate action in connection therewith.
To transact such other routine business as may come
before the Council .
Please be governed accordingly.

Mr. Jacobs was given the oath of office by the Town Clerk,
and he was designated as Chairman of the Laws and Rules Committee.
The Tax Assessor submitted the preliminary Tax Roll for
1941 . This was discussed. The Clerk was directed to erase all
pencil memorandum under the heading of "Personal Tax" .
Mr. Allen introduced the following resolution, which was
seconded by Mr. Chiasson and unanimously adopted:
RESOLUTION , approving the preliminary Tax Assessment Roll
for the year 1941 :
WHEREAS, The Town Tax Assessor has completed the preliminary
Assessment Roll of the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida for the
year 1941 , and has submitted the same to the Town Council ,
and ,
WHEREAS, it appears that all property, real and personal ,
in the Town of Atlantic Beach subject to taxation has been
assessed on said Tax Assessment Roll , and the Tax Assessment
Roll is in due form,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL of the Town of
Atlantic Beach, Florida, that the said Preliminary Tax Assessle
-
ment Roll be, and the same is, hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Town Clerk shall post at the
Town Hall and at two other public places in the Town and shall
also cause to be published daily for four consecutive days
in a ne.v:spaper published in the City of Jacksonville , Duval
County, Florida, notice that said Assessment Roll has been
submitted to the Town Council and approved and also requiring
all persons desiring to have corrections thereof made , whether
in the listing, valuation of property or otherwise , to file with
the Town Tax Assessor on or before the 2nd day of October, 1941
at 8 P.M. , their petition to the Town Council setting forth their
objection to said assessment roll and the correction they desire
made , and also that on the 2nd dey of October , 1941 at 8 o 'clock
P.M. the Town Council will meet at the Town Hall for the purpose
of equalizing said assessments end making proper correction
therein.
Upon motion of Mr. ellen, seconded by ! r. Jacobs, the
Town Clerk was directed to post the following notice at the
Town Hall and at two other public places in the Town and to
cause the said notice to be published four consecutive days
in a Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida paper:
NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF PRELIMINARY TAX ASSESSMENT ROLL
OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, FOR THE YEAR 1941 :
" TO YHOM IT MAY CONCERN: You are hereby notified that the
preliminary Tex Assessment Roll for the Town of Atlantic Beach,
Florida, for the year 1941 , has been completed and submitted
to and approved by the Town Council. All persons desiring to have
corrections made thereof, whether in listing, valuation of
property or otherwise , are required on or before the 2nd day of
October A.D. , 1941 at 8 ?.M. to file with the Town Tax Assessor
of the Town of Atlantic Reach, their objections to the said
assessments and the correction they desire made.
The Town Council will meet at the Town Hall in the Town of
Atlantic Reach, Florida, on the 2nd day of October, 1941 at
8 P.M. for the purpose of ecualizing said assessments and mak-
ing proper correction therein. All persons who shall file petitions ,
as aforesaid will be given the opportunity to be heard at
said meeting.

Upon the suggestion of Mr. Chiasson, the Clerk was
directed to prepare copies of the Town Charter, es amended,
to be distributed to the Town Officials.
The euestion of Bus service was discussed.
There being no further business for consideration the
meeting adjourned.
