12-14-94 v 'r RECREATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD Minutes of Meeting of December 14, 1994 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Cindy Corey at 7:35 PM in the Community Center meeting room. Present were: Cindy Corey, Chairman Edward Waters Patricia Goelz Jane Tanner Barbara Hopson Guests: Mayor Lyman Fletcher, Woody Richardson, President, AB Athletic Assoc. , Steve Benjamin, Treas. , AB Athletic Assoc. , Patricia Bell, AB resident Staff: Carl Walker, Board Coordinator The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and a motion made by Barbara Hopson to approve them, as written. Patricia Goelz seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Woody Richardson and Steve Benjamin of the ABA were intro- duced and presented the Board with informational handouts including a current roster of their Board and Commission, a registration schedule for the Spring season, a copy of the revised registration form and drawings of their proposals for a new T-Ball field (see attached) . Mr. Richardson reported that the ABAA had secured a estimate for lighting for the "B" field to include four 60' poles and a complete lighting system at a cost of $ 32, 000. Currently, that field can only be used for daytime games. The cost can- not be assumed by the association, Mr. Richardson advised. The ABAA is willing to construct, at no cost to the City, a T-Ball field for approximately $3, 200 to include 390' of fen- cing, 2 truck loads of clay, bases, and portable bleachers. It was explained that "T-Ball " is designed for 5 and 6 year olds and that the field is approximately 1/3 of the square foot size of a regulation field. There was considerable dis- cussion about placement of the field in Russell Park. Ultimately, Jane Tanner made a mot ion to recommend that the T-Ball field be constructed near the batting cage on the Plaza St. side of Russell Park, subject to further research. Barbara Hopson seconded, and following additional discussion, the motion passed by a unanimous vote. Patricia Goelz reported that Allison Johnson would be con- ducting a class in composting on Saturday, January 28, begin- ning at 10 AM. The class will be held at the Community Cen- ter. Various ways of promoting the class were suggested.
